This is one thing that does bother me with Gardiners - even though it is free delivery.
I have had many deliveries from other suppliers in the past couple of months and without exception they have all emailed and text with a guaranteed one-hour delivery slot; this then allows you to organise work and be in for the allotted time.
However, Gardiners' delivery don't offer this facility which means waiting in all day - I wouldn't mind paying an extra couple of pounds for this service as I have lost a whole day waiting for a Gardiners delivery.
Just my twopenneth!
Cheers, Tom
We would love to be able to offer this kind of service with our deliveries - however the type of services that some of these other WFP firms' couriers offer are simply not available to us due to the high volume of poles that we send out.
Poles fall into the non-standard category due to their size and as a result limit us dramatically from using most couriers. Whilst we could use most couriers if poles made up only about 5% of our parcels sent out, due to the fact that our pole parcels make up about 75% of our parcels sent out there is currently only 1 or 2 couriers that we can actually use regularly. Neither of these couriers offer this service unfortunately.
It is also not a case of us simply being able to pay more they simply will not take on the level of pole deliveries that we require. Strangely this is mainly because most of these couriers firms have heavily invested in the same American software and logistics systems which dictate the levels of non-standard goods. Once they have this system they cannot deviate.
