Re: Hot Water Without Gas. Would This Work?

Well, they are all made to a certain competitive price, but I think the heaters Alex has got seem to be among the higher quality ones. And they've got shiny LED displays. :D

But really, don't bother with Diesel heaters, they cost a fortune, and cost a fortune to repair. More expensive to run as well. Running a heater from the van battery sadly doesn't work.  :)
Thanks Tim. I think I'll speak to Alex again and pick his brain some more.  :) Won't take long! ;D ;D ;D

I am reading this you know
Oh... ;D ;D ;D

Alex, do you have to have a flue? We work with the doors wide open on
virtually every job, so fumes will not be a problem I don't think. ??? :-\

Imo, if you are not going to be a frequent user of hot water and don't want the hassle of flues/bottle etc, why not fit an element into your tank? Heater elements are reasonably easy to install and can be heated up over night when required for the next day. Cheap to buy all the bits required (£100 tops) : element, mechanical flange, insulated wire and plug, sealant and correct size hole cutter. I used mine quite often this winter, mainly to keep the hose supple, but also heated up to higher temperature for 1st cleans and the odd conny roof clean.
There are threads on the forum and you tube that give you detailed information about how to fit them.  ;D

using a element heater in the tank over night would give you luke warm water and it would be barely warm at the brush,

gas is the best way to go, cheapest to run and easiest to set up, all you do is turn it on and instant hot water,

You dont need a flue.

You could use some flexi flu and point it towards the doors, the main reason for this, is you want to avoid condensation.

That's how I worked through the winter. I didn't fancy cutting a hole in the roof with all the cold and wet weather we've had.
