I don't think it's overly noticeable, I used to use them for quite a while, but went back to pencils, they are more controllable IMO. Do you rinse on the glass? If not you will need to with fans.

I like fan jets for facias/conny roofs, I e got pencils and fans fitted to my SL brush so I can swap over when needed.

I've now been using fans for over 3 yrs - for me they beat pencils hands down

As Lee has indicated there is a saving in water using fan jets but the biggest saver with fans is time - i can rinse
far faster getting better coverage with fans than i ever could with pencils

you can also rinse off the glass ( 1 to 2 inches away )  as long as your using a decent make of fan jet

I never found much difference in water usage. You tend to back the pressure and flow down with fans but rinse more on the glass. Generally you have to rinse on 'cos you'll get clouds of vapor on a breezy day. Nice for gutters and conservatory roofs, not so nice for windows in my opinion.

Like you Dazmond I had never used fan jets, that is until just over a week ago and I'm back to using pencils already.

The main reason is that I had to increase the flow rate for them to work properly so immediately started using more water.

This, I don't understand when people say jets save water. You need the flow up high to get the desired effect.

yes you have yo put the flow up but the rising time is far quicker than pencil jets - one offsets the other
you would need to give it more than a week testing them out as you are used to taking longer with the pencil jets

the main reason foe fans is not water saving but better water coverage and therefore better rinsing over the glass
this gives better results and an added benefit it's quicker.

Downside is if you have stubborn deposit then you are using more water while scrubbing - however with a quick soak
at the start of the cleaning process on the window all but really terrible bird stike comes straight off.

real water saving is done through triggers or aqua daptors - and if using these then higher flow can be used as
your not using water anywhere but on the window

Hi Smudger, I do use a aqua-dapter but was still using more water than with pencil jets, so this was my main concern. I,m not really bothered about the time factor.

Hi
I use both and like both equally but prefer fans for speed on a sill brush. I also hold my brush of a few inches to rinse.

I dont even try to save water its not on my agenda. The reason I love them, they rinse well.

When I changed from fans to pencils I didn't find I was using any more or any less water.
It didn't seem to make any difference to the end result either.
It's just one of those personal preference things
I prefer the accuracy of the pencil jets.

Darran perhaps you were using a different brush than I was or something..
I found the fan jets sprayed water on places I wanted to avoid sometimes.
