No i haven't tried those but i switsed to brass/metal hoselocks and they leak alot less then the plastic one's!
Also have you replaced the rubber o rings laterley? that helps too!

I had new brass fittings, but if the hose got moved slightly, it would leak terribly.

A friend of mine just ordered some of these, including one for me.
Its a rectus fitting as opposed to a hoselock. I've not been able to fit mine yet as my van is away being repaired, but he says they are good and leak free. £15 on ebay

Cheers fellas, I am going to give these JG fittings a go first, the trouble with the brass elbow, is that they leak too if they get lent on

what reel is that you have Lee ?
I know what you mean about leaning on the brass elbow, fortunately my reel is fixed down and I keep things away from it.
I had thought of the jg (good idea ) previously but couldn't work out how to do it with mine.
I take it that it still spins at the jg fitting, even Alex G pointed out that although his new fittings are very good if they connect straight to the spindle without an elbow, the spinning will cause wear and leak with time.

I use brass fittings and have spare O rings. Change them every once in a while and smear them slightly with a little vaseline to help it spin smooth and wear down less. Not had any leaks in ages now.

My reel is the big standard metal one all the suppliers sell but I made a frame so that I could have one on top of the other.
I think I will smear the end with Vaseline, hopefully that will prolong the life.
