Pumped RO System
« on: May 02, 2013, 06:47:02 pm »
I'm looking for a 300 or 400 gpd pumped ro system. What are the ones with the pump built in like?

Anyone use one or have any reviews or any links?

Cheers

Dave

I've got a Vyair 400 GPD RO with built in booster pump.
I think I've had it for around 3 years now.
I change the pre-filters every 6 months and I've been on my second set of membranes since last October.
The only issue I had was that the high pressure switch (which stops the pump when the incoming water supply is turned off) burnt out.
This was after about 18 months use and Vyair sent a new switch out to me free of charge.
Here is a link to the Vyair site: http://www.vyair.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=118

The RO in the link is the newer version of what I have and has 2 booster pumps so produces even more water.  ;)

Ive got a 600 gpd streamline With built in booster pump. its really good. only thing i dont like about it is the pump isnt continuously rated, so it as to be on a timer, 1 hour on 30 mins off.

The cheap wikes timer that came with it works but the other day i must have accidentally pulled the timer prongs out and it was on for 1 hour 15 mins and off for 15 mins at one point.

So its now nackered and im having to use it unpumped. until i buy a new pump. anyone know the best place for these booster pumps? andare they easy to fit?

I've had a small booster pump on my system since 2007. When I fitted it the instructions said it had to be turned off every half hour or so. Mine runs eight hours a day every day with no problems yet.

I'll just check - the garage could be on fire.

A lot of small electrical appliances/machines will have a rated duty cycle to prevent overheating and burnout.
The cheaper booster pump units have a lower duty cycle hence the reason for using a timer on the lower quality pumps.
I've run the Vyair pump with no overheating problems and with no need to use a timer.

GB that should not have gone after being on for only 1hr 15 mins, left mine on the other day for 6 hours by accident and its still working, any of the main suppliers should be able to get you a replacement or tweak your system with something better..?
