Morning folks, been away from this forum for so long as I've been plodding along quite nicely and enjoying my work and life. Things are about to change though, I've met a wonderful woman but she lives 20 miles from my stomping ground. At the mo I'm running a Mitsubishi L200 with a 250 water tank but will no longer be able to afford to run the thing if ( but almost def will) we move in together.....so my question is.....is it feasible to work £200 days from a trolly system?

If it is can anyone point me in the right direction concerning a really good set-up to purchase? Also I'll need to sell the L200 and buy something more economical, any ideas? I'm thinking either a large MPV or an estate? If I had a huge round I'd just carry on as normal but I'm not looking to expand to cover extra fuel costs as I have another part time business and just want to go out 4 days a week @ £200.

So to cut it short I'm looking for vehicle advice and what weight I can carry  and where I can but a pukka trolly that'll cause me as little grief as possible when swapping water over and ease of use.

If you are moving in with her surely you will be saving money on rent etc this would cover the fuel cost?

A good friend of mine works out of a saloon car with a trolly and 8 barrels.  He lives in the middle of his round and can easily go back for water, however from what he tells me he would rarely get through 12 in a day. He does £200 days on a regular basis. He also uses pole triggers. 10 25l barrels is your 250.

Keep your current set up you will find it a pain moving over to trolley from truck  mount and it will make your work day a pain in the a**e .

Used a trolley for over 3 yrs and their is no way i would go back . Mike

True but we both want to invest in our own new ventures so need to save as much as possible.

Thanks Simon and Mike, a trolley set up sounds daunting considering but what vehicle can I mount a tank in that isn't a van or 4X4? It's also worth mentioning I take my dog to work with me so need a back seat for her, she's been with me since the start so there's no way I'd be able to leave her at home every day.

Is there anything that can accommodate a tank and a dog, I've been looking for weeks now and cant find anything suitable?

Buy a half decent berlingo for about 1.5k stick a 350 litre tank in the back, sorted.

Add a 40 mile commute to your day, about 2 gallons at £6 a gallon. If she's not worth an extra £12 a day then....

You'll lose money selling the L200, you'll take a risk buying a used van/car etc that could break down and cost you big (better the devil you know), all the time you'll spend taking tank out and refitting it safely in new vehicle and or cost of buying a trolley system.

Now that's a good idea! Berlingo sounded great until I realized that putting a tank in one would leave nowhere for my dog, this isn't an option unfortunately and shes a Labrador so front passenger seat isn't an option really. Great thing about getting rid of the L200 is half of it is on tick, if I get a cheaper motor I get rid of a dept. With two new business in the pipeline I really want to reduce my outgoings considerably and fund them without borrowing even more.

So it's either buy an estate or MPV for approx £4000, get rid of the excess on loan and buy a trolley system or get the L200 gas converted and keep the loan....hmm...

I have a 60 mile round trip 10 days of the month! get a van and bigger tank to work longer days if possible, you might save a days fuel £20?   

going to a trolley from van mount is a mahoosive step in the wrong direction imo!

Why don't you just put some prices up?

I think you would struggle going to a trolley system - I would hate to go back to a trolley!
