I have been asked today by School Supplies if I want to renew from last year. We had 0 enquiries. All of our schools work comes through the local council from their surveyers.

I used to do the nurseries round here.
Then the council bought a machine and is in process
of training up a couple of their caretakers to go round
doing it.
Just been speaking to the boss of one...they still use
me for stain removal....varnish on carpet Friday morning
...she's never heard of them.
Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

I dont understand why anyone would, for one second contemplate using anything like this. How hard is it to pick up a phone, call a school and get the name of the person in charge of such things?

You would speak to the organ grinder, not via some commission based telesales person and it costs you a phone call. When you get one you use that as an 'in' for the others.

Actually I do know why people may be tempted, these organisations pray on the fact most people dont like selling and the potential for rejection. And when you shell out hard earned cash and nothing materialises at least you can slag them off and not take the responsibility yourself.

Delegating your marketing to some oik who rings you up is not an option.

It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Talking of which, have you followed up that lead yet?

Stuart - why did you bring Checkatrade into this? They're not the same market!
