a lady did this on twitter, said she would donate £1 for every retweet  of her post and it went viral, she ended up getting a £10,000 loan to pay the charity bill. thought you best know that james.

Thanks for that Dan, i am a little curious whether people can see my main facebook page as the business page is just a page within, dont really understand facebook too well i have someone working on it for me at the moment who suggested making it family orientated and to post some family pictures etc, obviously i cant log on as someone else to see what the public can see outside my roffeycleaning page. i would not want my customers seeing my personal page and comments i make to my family.

What I don't get (and nor will potential customers) is why you have personal photos mixed with business ones? That doesn't say 'professional' to me. Surely you want to keep your business separate to your private affairs? It looks sort of amateurish...

Its a family business and promoted as such, my customers do like it and i am glad they like it. a good friend of mine who does SEO professionally suggested it i thought it was a good idea and i know it helps promote my business.

shame you are unable to take the post in the spirit it was made, to raise funds for a cancer charity and asking friends to help promote my facebook page and contribute to this charity, says more about you i think

I disagree, it's about striking the right balance and depends on your market, if I'm walking into a business premises, then yes, telling them about what a great day you had with your family on the weekend will go down like a lead balloon, but if your dealing with mrs jones in her 4 bed detached then opening up more of your personal life helps, so I go back to what I first said, it's about striking the right balance!

Strange that because i have found business to be a pleasure, also found it to be good marketing.

I have a picture of my son on my van and that has pound for pound been the best marketing i have ever done, paid for its self ten fold, so don't be offended if i don't use your golden nuggets of advice.

Thank you for your observations.

If i had an example of how it should be done then i would obviously take a look at your own website but you have not filled in any of your contact details or link to your own website and marketing so i cannot .
Being completely transparent and open i am subject to critical observations from everyone, however this forum is about discussion sometimes banter.
Simply saying my site is sh..  contributes nothing other than to lower the thread to the level of the school playground.

I would like the moderators to please lock this thread now as the original topic has been hijacked.
I would like to thank all the people that took the time to help me out and help raise some money for a very worthwhile cause, I will let you know how much has been raised when Derek has finished telling everyone i know on facebook to bankrupt me, i have limited it to £100 though.
If you would still like to help you can find me on facebook under roffeycleaning.com you will recognise it as its the one that looks sh..
