i went to quote a job thats being cleaned wfp its a small b n b over three levels the guys happy with the window clean except the fact the water fed pole pure water is leaving all runs down the white concrete cills

obvious choice would be to trad them but ground is a bit rocky and uneven for the third level to be climbing up ladders and very steep drop behind the walls as its in chester on the city walls

is there anything that can be done to stop this happening to the paint work i said i would ask the forum se if there any suggestions before i go back to him

i said wfp the second stroey windows and trad the ground n first floor

Had a similar thing asked me a few years ago when painting and decorating, I used to do a fair bit of maintenance work on a local b&b that was having pretty much the same problem
In the end I cleaned the sills up and re-painted them, when they had dried I put a couple of coats of clear matt exterior varnish over the top
It won't last for ever but if its a b&b they will have running maintenance costs anyway and it should keep them happy for a couple of years

i was thinking of something different on the cills such as varnish i presume hes used an exterior paint but thought it must be one that doesnt repel water as such might mention it too him

It's probably not the pure water but more likely something in the environment which is ending up on the glass or in the frame seals that is mixing with the pure water.

It's deco the water I think he noticed it straight away just water marks going blackish colour on bright white painted Cills

If he does what I suggested, as long as the sills are cleaned along with windows then it shouldn't be an issue
Masonry paint used to paint concrete sills will allow the muck to stick to it it that is running off the windows
Also it doesn't stand up to repeated washing very well

Just a thought but if they've not long been painted and they were filthy before then they may not have been cleaned properly and the stains could be bleeding back through the paint

has it rained after the painting   because it may be the guttering

Never put pure water on newly painted sills allow at least 2 weeks.
For some reason it lifts or discolours masonry paint the cheap stuff is
the worst.
Found this out the hard way.
One  was a newly painted step [2 days old it] peeled off like plastic.
The other was sills[ about 4 days old] discoloured.
Fixed and left for 4 weeks and had no problem with them.
