...of the highway code:244You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.Law GL(GP)A sect 15We've all done it, however disability groups are campaigning for a blanket ban to stop the practice.
You should live up my road. Malvern was never meant for cars as the roads are very narrow. All the cars park half on the road and half on the pavement, if they didn't, no cars would be able to drive down the road. It would get blocked. So rule 244 is unworkable across the country and it would never be implemented in my area. Everybody just accepts that's how we HAVE to park no way getting round it! Police have seen all of us park the same and never say anything. Infact, one of my custies is a copper and to clean his windows I park partially on the pavement - he never says anything. They have probably got better things to do! Cheers
