It is very nice to drive but expensive to buy. Had mine (09 T30 LWB)for a year. No mechanical problems as yet and has long service intervals - can't remember the exact details but from memory it is every 20k miles / 2 years.

I had a t30 130 swb and it was a great van . Get the 5cyl engine, 130bhp or 174, the 4cyl 102s etc are painful

I got 1 lovely vans but are exspensive when they go wrong.
For example £800 to fit a new alternator. Lol

Go for it still tons better than a transit ford etc

Thanks for the info, I have a 650ltr upright tank so if I go VW route which one 26/28/30 etc? not sure on which capacity engine etc but leaning towards 130bhp upwards.

Thanks

Must all come down to money.
If you can afford it the T32 174 surely!

30 or 32. And 130 or 174. I had mine two years and post £650 when I sold it. Id like to see a transit depreciate like that.
I had a 650ltr ionics in my t30 130 and it pulled like a train.

Seen one in the flesh a little while ago, I know everyone has got their opinion, but boy this is one ugly looking van, worst I've ever seen. Repulsive.

It will look far better in a couple of months when the rust has covered it lol.

If you can then go for a 130 or 174. They are both the 5 cylinder engine with no belts to change ever! All gear driven cams so that will result in a big saving over time.
I have a t32 lwb 174 kombi. Even loaded right up it will overtake in 5th no bother. Its 7 years old now with 85k and when I had a service the new transporter they lent me felt no better than mine. It drives like a car. I have a tailgate rather than rear doors and that's useful for keeping dry when loading/ unloading. Had transits for 18 years prior to this and although I found them virtually faultless, I would rather have a 2nd hand vw t5 than a new transit for the same money.
Get a t30 or t32 and it will handle better with the weight. The t32 has bigger steel wheels due to bigger front discs and rear discs instead of drums.
