George - The window cleaners assistant New
« on: April 17, 2013, 10:43:35 pm »
Hi Folks,

There's a bit of interest in George for Round Management in another thread.

http://www.georgesystems.co.uk/index.html

Download it free to try for 60 uses (about a month)

It will take ages to tap in all you customer details but once done....never again.

You can use Internet Backup (costs £12 per year) or just have a USB stick to backup on.

Buy a Palm PDA...

link here

Download the Palm software...

http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/33529_en.html

Download the Pocket George...

http://www.georgesystems.co.uk/PktGeorge/pktgeorge.html

Follow all the instructions......yeah it is a bit of a ball ache but you'll get there and once done ...it's done and easy from then on.

The Palm Tungsten backs up EVERYTHING in the Hotsync so if it dies on you and you reset it...just do a couple of hotsyncs and hey presto the whole lot is back and running.

Is this to be cloud based ie monthly subscription.
Or simply a paid app stand alone?

Sounds a good idea......but I would take some convincing to change.

Monthly subscription - no chance! -.why pay more??
I paid £50 4 years ago and had all updates and problems sorted FREE.
Aworker is £5 per month, reasonable I suppose, but that would hav bee £240 and still paying.

I've used George and I think it is really good and the only way of going cheaper is with pen and paper. The reason why I stopped using it is because your very limited with technology, it has to be PC and palm, nobody uses palm nowadays except a few window cleaners.

I've gone to an app called bento and written my own database that suits my business needs. The next step on for me is buying a better database FileMaker Pro. This works on the devices that I own (iPhones).

Round partner. Google it. Superb.
A manager is generally someone who has been promoted to the position by someone else who didn't see them as a threat.
Hence all people are promoted to the level of their incompetence
