business booming but having constant van issues!!!
« on: April 17, 2013, 11:46:22 am »
business has really picked up this spring for us quoting loads of commercial, signing up a lot of the schools ive quoted and picking up so many new customers for domestic window cleaning but having problems with all the vans vivaro need loads new engine, combo beginning to not start and also the old peugeot has began not starting

im thinking of possibility of leasing three new vans or maybe two and putting large tanks in like lee pryor and have 4 staff so they not having to come bk to refill

the vans do seem to be a bit of a constant bane in my work always one needing attention all of them re due mots too this month

selling vans and leasing would possibly improve cash flow immediately too

ive brought in new rota where they do 40 hours over 4 days and brought in new member of staff due to family commitments they all required less hours on different days so this has gave them all alternative days off with saturdays being covered by new employee who ive been using on as and when basis recently

this also give them the opportunity to work on there allocated days off if theyre needed or do leaflet dropping, canvassing at an overtime wage of £8.50 or cover other staff when theyre ill or need holiday i am also gong to be covering weekends to keep up with workload.

im going to review how things go and see how contracts i pick up over next 8-10 weeks and possibly go down leased van route

I feel your frustration as i went thru this in November ... mot and oil pump etc etc ... spend £1100 ish from memory getting combo all sorted.

If I can keep growing as I am then will be going for a new one on lease about September and will keep this combo as a back up van / rental van with system for others on here.

i had a feeling my van was going to start costing me, also losing me some days work if it went in the garage etc, so i bit the bullet and bought new.

To be honest, i feel a lot less stressed cos before i was waiting for things to go wrong!

Ive taken on a bigger area with google ads now and lots of work coming in, so its paying off already  :)

Richy, I can't believe you're only just hitting the Vat threshold with the amount of staff you employ, as well as yourself still on the tools.

Hope you get the van issues sorted, nothing worse than losing money when you should be out earning it.

You've deleted me as a friend on facebook Matthew, even after I included you in one of my songs.

I'm deeply offended.
