Best Hand Moisteriser!
« on: April 16, 2013, 07:32:10 am »
Thought I;d ask you old hands what the best cream is to get for my hands  :P.  After a day WFP my hands are really dry and are starting to crack a little...  maybe its an age thing too.  i tend to use my wifes really expensive stuff, or my sons baby cream....  but i'm starting to get through quite a bit now!  :)

suggestions?

I found that any moisturizer struggled to keep up with the drying effects of pure water, gritty hoses and fibre glass poles. The solution for me was switching to wearing gloves at all times when working. I started using Nitrile disposable gloves about 8 years ago and within months my skin cracks healed. It also has the benefit of keeping your hands hygienically clean (great for rolling up hose reels) for eating and interacting with clients, simply peel off when needed.

It is really worth trying - 2 months of nitrile gloves at all times when working = soft smooth skin  :)

thanks Alex.

i hadnt clicked that the pure water was having an effect to be honest.

i've just bought some neipreme gloves so will see how they get on, and try the disposable if they dont work.

Previous winters I've worn showa 377 gloves when it's cold.  This year because the winter dragged on a bit I've been wearing them for months - and I've got used to the clean hands, better grip etc - so I'm probably going to wear them all the time.

Although the white hands and tanned arms might look odd in the summer 8)

nitrile gloves are ok as liners underneath other gloves to stop your hands smelling but used on their own they rip within an hour or so ive found!!

on hot sunny days i dont bother as i want tanned hands to match my face, neck and arms to complete the t shirt tan look!! ;D ;D ;D

any moisturising cream will do mate on the days you dont wear gloves.
price higher/work harder!

Neoprene are not water proof (wet suit gloves) so although maybe helping a bit the pure may still dry your hands out.
