some friend
« on: April 15, 2013, 11:50:32 pm »
do a very well to do house, they own motorcycle and car  dealerships and a couple of golf courses , private road ect ect.
got shafted on the price/ can i do extras ect for no extra money/ can i clean the and so on.  never ended lost count of the freebees/ can i fix / oh while you have your ladder on the van ect.......

one month after cleaning for two hours  she came out just as  i was about to do the last window and told me not to bother the window man was going to fit new windows at the rear of the house.so she coulnt possibly be prepared to pay as they will be dirty in a few days
dumped
about year later she got her secatary to call and got the wife to book me in

reluctently went round as these people talk to the other houses in the area. the new windows were fitted by a very bespoke company with the best quality swiss frames and german glass i have ever seen it cleaned like silk wow wow wow
she told me a good family friend fitted the glass and frames  for free,  but she felt cheated as the glass changes colour as it gets lighter and was soo angry
think reactalight sunglasses but more subtle top top quality
any way she hasnt spoken to him or his wife not even to say thank you for one of the best window fits i have ever seen she even got her kids to snub thir kids
i know the other people and are the nicest people you have ever met so so different to the others and they are shocked to lose a friend of 25 years and wonder what they have done wrong the job would cost £32,000  to you or me
 some friend

do i tell them why?

I never do freebies. had some bird say "While you're here, can we use your ladders to fit a Sky dish"? You can imagine the answer.

These mongs move among us, and they're hard to spot, until they open their mouths!! Then it's easy to see.  ;)

I've found that the more wealth people have, the tighter they are. That's why they have so much, they hate spending it. Worth remembering I think.

I choose not to have this type of toxic person in my business.

if they are so open with their window cleaner about their gripes with various people, they will be just as open with their friends and neighbours anyhow.  people will know they always want some thing for nothing.

it ust winds me up having to speak to them, winds our staff up having to listen to them...  not worth it.

we dumped one just last week.  she has a huge house, but always wants something off if we cant clean a window for some reason (building work etc).  i didnt like dealing with her, and she was never happy with us either.

There are plenty of people out there willing to treat others appallingly if it suits their needs. You haven't helped yourself by repeatedly doing freebies and allowing yourself to be treated badly.
Stay well away and if they want to know why then tell her a few home truths.
Life is to short to entertain people like her

My favourite is "will you dust off the fascias and guttering?"  :o

My answer to these is "yes, but I will charge you".

So she tells her neighbours that she has had top of the range windows fitted for free, then says she is angry because they change colour and hasn't spoken to her friend since.

Wonder what her neighbours really think of her. If it were me, I wouldn't go back, no matter what her neighbours (if they are customers) think.

People like this are toxic and could put you out of business.
