 I bought a clx in January , but after a few days the clamps were playing up , I wasn't impressed so I put it on the van and went back to my brodex pole , I just didn't get the whole gardiners thing , and I told my fellow c I u friends , I thought the clamps on the facelift were much better , I still do like the facelift but after about five month it has had its day , anyway I went to the cleaning show and fell in love with the ionics , so I put my clx on the for sale section on here , stateing it was damaged , alex seen the add and asked me if he could help , he had sent me an e mail weeks back asking the problem , I never got back to him for a few reasons first one being no way could I be bothered with having to take it the post office and then paying to send it back , only to be told SORRY its your own fault [ I do have a bit of history when it comes to the noble art of pole breaking ] and there was no way I was going to start a new topic headlined all you gardners city fans are wrong , I would have got lynched , so best to take a hit on it and move on ............... that was then , this is now , alex said he would get it picked up free of charge , next day of it went to sunny cornwall , a day later a man called alex rang me and said he would send me a brand new shiny red pole out , next day im up an running , anyway I thought I would see how it went , and 3 weeks later im still very happy , I have been giving it a wipe down [ where time permits ] and each weekend I have  washed it down , im very happy , so happy im thinking off buying a new one so I have 2 on the van [ I have a helper now and then ] so im sorry I was wrong and the other 26 thousand people on here were right

I loved mine to start with, but 10 months on the top three sections are worn badly. All quite suddenly to be honest. Once the sections start to wear, very quickly an inch lost at the top becomes 3 inches. The clamps are the problem I think. They allow the user to over tighten and the sections wear.

!0 months out of a budget pole, I dont think thats too bad.
Your right though about the clamps, the best clamp I ever used was on a grey xtel pole they never needed adjusting but were about 2" each in size, thus making the pole longer.

Maybe, but a mate has an SLX 25 with the same issues. I take some responsibility for some of the deterioration through a lack of care. The clamps are a weakness.

my thinking now is if I buy 2 poles a year at 140 quid each then im happy , we all know how good our business is and the pole makes us money so I don't mind putting 6 pound a week away for poles , it just when things last 6 weeks rather than 6 months , that's when I get angry but for now im a very happy young man ,  and yes I did say YOUNG remember fifty is the new forty so that means I got 3 years till im the new forty , which makes me about 37 an a half ish , hence the young man quote  or you are as young as the pole you feel an I just got myself a shiny new one

my CLX was over 2 years old before i sold it to a windy just starting out.used nearly every day for a year then a few times a week for the next year or so.i reckon he ll get a year out of it. so call it 3 years for a budget pole.i think thats good going.yes the top 3 sections are worn a bit but still useable.

my first 25 SLX lasted 18 months used as an every day pole before adding some sections to make it my occasional 40 ft pole.still plenty of life left in it just top 3 sections a bit worn now.

id be happy with 2 years out of my everyday regular main pole which only works out at around £200 a year if its a full carbon fibre pole.

poles dont last forever.they last a lot longer if you use outside pole hose though but i prefer internal hose.just flush them out once a week and clean the pole hose every time you put it back in the van.

Then dont over tighten then simples , you only have your self to blame  . Mike

then ebay the old one - just remember to tell the taxman though.
