Topical Sealants for Indian slate
« on: April 13, 2013, 03:47:15 pm »
What's the hardest wearing topical sealant for Indian or Chinese slate - Lithofin do slate seal, LTP do iron wax? Aquamix has a gloss or low sheen and there are others. I would be interested to know if solvent based finishes like slate seal are likely to last longer - are they more robust or is no better than a water based emulsion finish

This is for domestic only - customer wants a gloss finish

Totally disagree.  All  topical sealants longevity and wear is down to foot traffic.

Correct, foot traffic will have a lot to do with it, but longevity is also dictated by the quality of polymer resin used as a part of the formula and the solid content within the product.

As you will know Kevin there are a lot of cheaper topicals, price points for these products are normally due to low grade polymers and lower solid content used within the formula.
