don't go down the route of getting a secondhand engine. I used to be a spannerman and I can tell you an untouched engine for Vivaro  are hard to find and likely you will buy a half baked wreck engine for top dollar. the injection pump and possibly even the injectors  are computer matched to the brain of the van to further complicate matters
back in the day I heard of a fellah who fitted a secondhand engine to a Renault ,he failed to get the brain on the van to match up with the new engine-on startup it revved its nuts off to the max and couldn't be switched off neither !!

Laguna 1.9 diesel same engine
It's the 9yk engine easy to get
Jus change the turbo simples

People, in general, are quick to moan when something's wrong.
It's not negative it's just that when something does what it should we don't shout about it.
My toaster-cracking, 4 years of perfect toast, kettle, perfect hot water for 3 years etc.
Think of all the things we use each day that could break. When they don't we don't say anything about them cause there's nothing to report.
When they do we talk about it.

Vivaro/Trafic/Primastar have had some issues to be fair but (from my limited experience) after 2008 the problems seem fewer.

Even the legendary VW's-someone on here had one that was a pup.

Of it isn't brand new (or within the 3 year manufacturers warranty) you take a punt on all vans

mine was a 57 plate with 75000 on the clock and that started playing up i had it looked at and the total bill was going to cost 2200 to put right so it went down the road with a nice little wave from me
