Big boys drive transits as they know a good van , whereas the vivaro is driven by.......... Well it's not really as a lot spend wayyyyyy to much time in the garage being repaired. Transits won't let you down and if they do they are cheap to fix and the parts are ten a penny, also more room in the cab and the van

I know mate but i would rather have some rust showing than the sodding thing stuck in the garage all the time. why do you think i got rid of my 57 plate vivaro with only 75000 on the clock.

transits wont let you down !!!! i just scrapped a transit that i had for 8 weeks, paid three and a half grand for it, and something in the road hit the oil filter cap which is plastic and right at the bottom of the engine, all the oil dropped out and the engine seazed. not very reliable if you ask me, the van was fully serviced etc

Old Trafic/Vivaro/Primastar-1.9-crap. 2.5-mine was perfect to 90k odd.
New ones-from what I hear 07on-pretty good.
Lovely drive.
Mines problem free (so far)

You can't argue with the Transit being reliable though. Look what all the pikeys drive-they drive across the fields as much as on roads and still go!

You will always have the odd van of any make turn out to be a pup though.
It's a bit of pot luck with 2nd hand motors.

Hi mate sorry to hear about your transit. I think your find that's not a reliablty problem with the transit it's the same as the vivaro.  in your case it was sheer bad luck and I do feel for ya so I am going to look at protecting mine some how. Hope you get sorted soon

Darren I hope you have more luck with yours than I did with mine. I loved my vivaro I reel did but when it's going to cost me £2000 ish to put right I draw the line. So that's why I went for my monster called tiny lol

I've got a primastar the same as the vivaro and traffic, it's brilliant so far, pulls the weight, very spacious and a nice drive.  I guess you'll always get problem vehicles with all vans.

A friend of mine recently spent thousands on his 54 transit getting the injectors sorted, the Ford garage said that some engines come back after 25000 miles needing new injectors due to an inherent design flaw.

James-exactly the same story as you bud.
Perfect to 90k then turbo issues-£2k to fix. Not economical to repair-I was due a new van this year anyway so just brought it forward a year.
P/x for my new Trafic as I loved the van bar the turbo issue.
Went brand new so at least I get 3 years with no problems.
Looked at Transit, Vito, Transporter and another Trafic.
Merc-didn't really like that much tbh.
Transit-never been a Ford fan and wasn't swayed enough to change my mind.
Transporter I'd've loved but didn't want anything other than the t32 174 and couldn't afford that.
So, another Trafic it is.
Hoping for the T32 in 2017

If you're buying new , don't think it matters ESP if you chop
It in at 5years. I would buy new transit or toyota
If you buying old buy a landrover.
