I have to do some like this but the surrounds are varnished wood (same as the bannister on the pic)



I've not done anything like these before and I'm worried about damaging the wood with over spray.

Any pointers?

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you use a non solvent pre-spray or microsplitter. Have a couple of terry towels with you and just wipe over as soon as you've sprayed.

We left a ring from our micro-splitter sprayer, which completely removed the colour from a dark-stained oak floor. It hadn't been stained & sealed very well, but don't think MS's are always benign.

If it were me, I think I'd do a compatability test on the wood - drip somewhere unobtrusive & leave for a while.

Yeah, ive done loads like this. Just an immediate wipe-off when each step is done with the terry towel.

Never had a problem wipe overspray of asap as said.

Agree with Max, it depends how well they are sealed i did a carpet and in a doorway the door bar was stained in a dark mahogany, it was not sealed at all just stained and soon as a little overspray from the wand touched it it migrated to the carpet, i got it out but certainly focused my attention
