How do you rinse? NEC
« on: March 21, 2013, 09:46:47 am »
went to the cleaning show at the NEC and spoke to IONICS, they said when you rinse you do not need to take the Brush off the glass, just zig zag down the glass with the brush still touching.  :-\

This does not seem right to me.

How do you rinse? ??? ???

does any one do it like IONICS?  ;)If so what brush do you use?

You can do either. Many believe with flocked brushes that dirt can be trapped in the fibres of brush hence the lifting of the brush. I would think with a low flow it would advised to lift the brush.e.g. backpacks. But if you have a flow of +- 4/5 Litres over the glass you could just zig zag over the glass without lifting the brush. Each developes there own technic over time.

As high flow rate as the pump will push out. We use 100psi with no controller. I have a flocked, Darren's isn't, we both rinse on.

You can compromise:

As you draw the brush across the glass, twist the pole so you raise the trailing end of the brush.  When you reach the edge, twist the pole the other way to raise the opposite end of the brush - you then rinsed the bit where the end of the brush was touching and continue across to the opposite edge.  Repeat in zigzag motion down the glass.

Not so critical in these days of super light poles and brushes, but back in the days of my first pole (Omnipole) it saved an awful lot of straining to hold the brush and pole off the glass ;D

I do it the way IONICS explain it. But only at the top of the window, not zig - zagging all the way down.

This is just one technique that suits the brush they offer on their kit, a different brush may rinse better by pulling it off the glass.

Rinse on the glass mate.
I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.

it took me a while to trust rinsing on the glass, and i still only do it on higher than ground floor, but by the end of the day it saves you a hell of a lot of muscle strain.
it is the rinsing off the glass stance where your back and shoulders are at their greatest strain.  rinse on the glass with a van set up and you shouldnt be putting your back/shoulders under much strain at all! (unfortunately i currently have a trolley set up so 25ltr barrels are my enemy

Would rinseing on the glass be a risk with 1.5 lt a minute coming out of the brush head would save me some effort when over some connys.

When it sheets I rinse on.
When it beads I rinse off.
Could probably rinse on when it beads but always think it won't work.
I'm probably in the wrong here can anyone please advise?

Interesting that, I prefer to rinse on if the water is beading or the glass is badly hydrophobic.
I feel that this is actually sweeping the glass and therefore brushing away any dirt that may still be in the beading water.
