Recently upgraded my machine and now have a Airflex Turbo.I'm currently using it with 1.5 inch vacuum hoses.

Would I get a noticably better vacuum if i used it with 2 inch hoses?

I'm presuming that there is an adaptor to connect the 2 inch hose to a standard wand,is this correct?

Get 2 inch, the difference is good, you need a reducer cuff if you have a 1.5 inch wand, or you could use 2 inch then have 10 ft of 1.5 inch whip hose. It makes it slightly easier to wand in small and tight areas. Although 90% of the time I have 2 inch all the way to the wand.

You'll be gobsmacked at the difference stepping up to 2" hose.  Get a 2" wand as well, but keep your 1.5" and use it with a short whip of about 6ft which will be necessary for awkward tight spaces etc.  2" hose and wand on a TM isn't quite as bad if you've got lots of hot water running through it to soften it up but still a bit tricky in a tight spot.  With a porty you won't have that amount of heat or flow of hot water to soften the hose, but you could use the softer more flexible hose which may be better.

It's the kind of thing where you just have to suck it and see, scuse the pun

Oh and one other thing... COOL CUFFS.  Words can't describe how much better they make your life with 2" hose!

Dont think the pennies will stretch to getting a 2" wand at the moment Jim, having just bought the Airflex.

Will I still see a big difference with hose but still using a 1.5" wand?

I was using 1.5 and changed it made a considerable difference, i remember switching the machine on and thinking it's made no difference then i realised i had only 2 vacs running. If you do change make sure you still have a 1.5 wip onto your wand to make it easy to move the wand about

Yes you'll still see a difference... feel and hear the difference really!  Don't use anything longer than about 5-6 feet of whip, just enough so the connection is on the floor whilst using the wand.

Saying that, with a porty you will probably get away with using the softer more flexible 2" hose like Nick sells so you may well be able to use it straight on to the wand.  I got some and tried to use it with my TM but it just kinks and pinches up when the vac locks down.

I didn't get on with the reducer cuff to step 2" hose down to a 1.5" tool - the weight of the hose levers the cuff off the wand, forever pushing it back on.

When you say whip do you mean a length of 1.5" hose connected to the wand which in turn is connected to the 2" hose?

I can tell you that the difference is quite noticeable, i recently purchased an Enforcer and without doubt  50' of 2" hose from the machine  to a reducing 1.5 cuff has made my wand much louder due to the increase of air flow.
As Jim has mentioned... a 2" wand would also help a little

Andrew it depends if your machine is set up in series or parallel.  In series, forget it, probably make it perform worse.

Without sticking a set of gauges on it we are mostly just surmising  ...

But my understanding is that 1.5" handles up to around 200cfm fairly efficiently ...
Over the usable working distance of your particular vacs u would probably not see a huge difference , perhaps on long runs friction would be reduced  . i doubt if lift would be hardly effected .
If you had a pair of the newer vacs then it might matter more ...

But the ones u have have good lift and reasonable cfm .  10.5HG / 200CFM

I used 1.5 on the Jaguar 6.6 at first and was able to use normal wands & handtools without issue ......... now I use 2 inch, I had to get a wand with glides ........ took the glide off on a job yesterday and nearly dislocated my shoulders because of the effort needed 

I am certain the 2 inch would increase performance on any machine, it just depends on the degree

Just seen mine are set up in parallel so I may get some in the near future OR when I upgrade the vacs and pump later this year

Be careful upgrading the vacs.  Does the machine have one or two power cables?  On one cable, if they are currently the standard vacs, putting two heavy duty ones in will possibly overload the internal wiring and almost definitely pull more than 13a through the power cable when you add in the current draw from the pump and cooling fan

If each vac is on a separate cable you might be OK but do some maths first!

You also have to consider cooling, but I'd guess that the body and cooling fan of your machine is the same which houses the higher spec components in the same range of machines so should be designed to cope with it.  Check with cleansmart first before doing anything
