Help please
« on: March 08, 2013, 05:50:46 pm »
Hi, i've been asked to clean two hard floors in a regular carpet cleaning clients building. This is a care home for the mentally disabled.

I have been meaning to do a hard course for six months now, but time has always let me down but it is definitely next on my list over the next few month, it is likely to be Kevin's as well, i've mentioned this is in the past.

I need some help with identification (hard to see on the photos), cleaning solution, time it will take, and process. I have most things at my disposal, rotary, wet vac etc.

Unlike most hard floor cleaning domestic jobs that come up I don't want to turn this job down as it the flooring used throughout the building in which I clean all the carpets, if I can do a good job then it is likely i'll be offered the chance to do the rest.

Help appreciated guys.

I got your e mail and I am sorry I have not had time to reply.  However, you have a choice? 4 Options as I see it!

1.  As Andrew pointed out Bonamain is supposed to be good for this application which looks like Altro Flooring to me but I cannot tell if it's their normal one or stronghold from the photos.  You can get this from Jamie at CSUK!
2.  Tadgh O'Shea has a system that he says works well on this type of flooring!
3.  There are some on the Forum that say you should only use Altro's own products!
4.  Finally we have had 100% success with this type of flooring using Aqua Mix HDT&G Cleaner or AllForStone Xtreme Clean coupled with 500 or 800 grit honing powder.

It is up to you!

The blue version not the pink one.

In my experience this type of floor is best cleaned using a good quality product such as those mentioned with an extended dwell time but a SOFT pad or brush so it can get into the contours and groom out all the crap.

Usually the problem is residue from mopping of hard surface cleaners or pine gels. Be careful to qualify discolouration from oxidised oils that have attached to the vinyl.

Do not apply finish to these types if floors unless you can find the manufacturer and consult their recommendations.

Exactly what I told them Jamie, then they said we do use flash all the time on them. Is there a cheap product that I can recommend for them to use after i've carried out the clean?
