Doing a job to pay for goods?
« on: March 01, 2013, 04:55:21 pm »
I'm "buying" a brand new (£300) trade triple ladder off a customer by cleaning his windows  free 10 times (its a £12 job).

Is this tax deductable, if he gives me an invoice, bearing in mind no money is changing hands?

Cheers

I dont think the tax-man does "buying" however if you bought it then yes.

Works both ways you see, why should you be able to get tax relief on it when you're not declaring your "earnings"?

are u for real?

so your paying 180 cash and giving him 10 cleans free making it up to 300 quid.. you can buy your own ladder bran new with feet on delivered to your door including vat for 169 quid. and you'd be £120 better off!!

No Dave, the ladders are £300 brand new,  I'm doing 10 cleans at £12 each which equals £120.

 300
-120
------
=180

Making a saving of £180
