Help please
« on: February 27, 2013, 08:05:29 pm »
That's it, i'm fed up of constantly having a wet leg because of leaking taps and rectus fittings.

Is there anyone who previously used a tap on your hip that has found a better way of controlling the supply of water to the brush. If so, what method are you using now and do you have instant ability to shut the water off.

Regards,
Lance

I never have the tap at my hip - I rather always hold it by the hose and have it by my right hand. This is demonstrated in this video - http://youtu.be/cS51l4oY2mg

You need these fittings mate i have used them for years top quality they have sprung loaded nipple stops on each male and female connectors so when you disconnect them no water can leak dry leg all day

Cheers you bunch of numpties   ;D

I really like the ease of use having it looped through my money belt when working.

Alex, is there no fitting at the end of your pole hose then? Do you just connect an open end of pole hose to a push fit socket attatched to the tap?

Also are the fittings completely water tight? as i might give this a go.

Thanks A-W-C.

Are these similar to the john guest fittings?

I currently have rectus 21 (i think), male at the tap on the end of the hose reel and a female one on the end of the pole hose.

Been working this way since 2007 and it's finally done me in.

I just kink my polehose and if i need to put the pole down for any reason i shove the kinked end up the end of the pole(butt end) I used to have another method,i had a tiny set of mole grips in my pouch and i used to clip this on the kinked hose. because it is spring loaded it was easy to clip on and off.

I use the Gardiner tap and also hold it with my right hand, it doesn't take long to get used to it. At the end of the pole hose you have the rectus male tail end which will connect to your female end stop on the microbore. The tap is positioned about 1-2 metres from the end of the pole hose, on the pole hose section. Plug your pole in, put the tap into your right hand (if you're right handed), carry pole to window, turn on, turn off.   ;D

The trouble with those methods is that you have a loop, and hoses getting caught on everything is bad enough without that.  If you do let them roam free to avoid a loop then they also get caught on things!

Does nobody just put there tap on the pole hise and then put it on there pole??
If you've got a loop already surely this would save holding it all the time...??

I've got a tap on the pole from Pure Freedom works great but you have to get used to the hose being a bit untidy

I am with Gav on this put the push fit tap just before the brush works really well. I just plug in to my Rectus 19  open the tap  and extent to clean. No mess no fuss.

I use a tap on a holster and was also getting fed up with leaky rectus fittings.

I switched to these several months ago  - still leak free
