Poor service from Gardiners
« on: February 26, 2013, 03:08:41 pm »
Having used Gardiner poles for several years, I have a 60 ft modular pole, 35ft SLX and 25 ft SLX. Last week section 3 of my 25 ft pole broke.. Simple, I will just order the replacement section and away I go!!!!! 2 days later my section arrived only to find they sent me section 2. I informed them and they sent a replacement... Yet again they sent another section 2. When I questioned them and after much debate it turns out that section 2 is actually section 3!!!!!! ( I was confused). So they say they sent the right one and I had ordered the wrong part and I wasn't to know because it isn't made clear on the website.. The pole is 5 seections long and they sell them in sections 1 to 5. Section 1 being the top.. But now say my old pole starts at the top and is section 2..( Even more confused) .So now the 25 ft 5 section pole is actually 6 sections but don't make you aware of this when ordering... Just be aware if this happens to you as I have lost a weeks work as a result and had to go elsewhere for a complete pole... Now I have a useless Gardiner 25 ft pole....!!!!!!!!

So, they sent you the correct part twice, but you have a useless pole now!

I'm confused here.

DNC, I appreciate what you are saying and sympathise, waiting on parts to arrive and not be the right ones is annoying.
could you not have just continued to work with your modular and 35 ft slx ?
Without wishing to be rude in hindsight (assuming you ordered online) maybe it would have been better to ring gardiners to explain which pole you had and what you needed (I think the thickness of the sections has changed from older poles hence the confusion)
But to be honest its a mistake I could easily have made too, rather than bad customer service.
I hope you get it sorted soon  ;)

You lost a weeks work,I'm afraid I call bs on that one. You could have took some sections off of your 35 or 60.

The web site is either wrong or it is correct. When you order a replacement section it says section 1 is the top section, so you count down from there, is this what you have done, or is the website wrong? As it seems pretty clear to me, and when I ordered 2 new sections for my pole top section no1 and the next section no 2, they were the correct sections that I required.

I can confirm that DNC is a genuine customer of ours and bought this pole back in Oct 2009.

Product Overview
Carbon Replacement sections for latest generation poles (May '10 onwards). Each section features our new Matt-Carbon surface finish and comes with taped joint-stop, top aluminium screw, End-cap and nylon clamp assembly as appropriate.

His is October 2009. Guessing this is it.
