Have experienced the same with the old Brodex modular...

Sometimes took 6 big pairs of hands and a lot of twisting opposite directions!!

Rubber gloves and twist. Try and keep the pole as straight as possible don't squeeze too hard, usually works.
Clockwise if my memory serves me right but probably makes little difference.

When you get them apart clean them and spray with dry ptfe spray. Put a ring of insulation tape around them to prevent them sliding so far in next time.

Hi windiewasher

Is this the second hand one you picked up recently?

If so did it still have its joint stops fitted? (wrap of black fibre-glass tape about 6" down from the top of each section).

If it didn't then this will be why this has happened to you as with them fitted they virtually never jam in use, in fact it has been so long since this has happened to a client I have had to look up the various methods that can be used to separate them.

Try this first - Get 2 people both wearing rubber gloves. Get the first person to hold the upper section tightly. Get the second person to twist the lower section in a clockwise direction (looks wrong but it is the right way). This usually works well and the following steps are usually never needed.

If the above doesn't work then try this next method. Get 3 people - one on each end of the stuck sections pulling hard and then get a third person in the middle standing by the joint. Get this person to hold the joint and move it in a circular motion as if they were trying to move the pole like a skipping rope. What this does is to gently unwind the joint. It may take a minute or two to work.

If the above still does not work then try this final method. Get 3 people - one on each end of the stuck sections pulling hard and the get a third person in the middle by the joint. With a rubber or wooden mallet get this person to repeatedly and firmly to tap the joint with the hammer. Persist with this for up to 10 minutes and the joint will free itself.

When you have freed these sections then completely clean, degrease and dry each of the joints. Dry-fit them all back together and then at about 2mm below the natural joint position wrap joint-stop tape around the lower section about 4-5 times. Separate the sections and dry-film PTFE spray each joint. This should now prevent this ever happening again.

2 days wasted nothing.
Going in the bin cant afford or be bothered with this.
Tried all these methods and wont budge a inch.
Isit possible to cut or are these sections had it?

Mine was the same once. Me and perfect windows on one section and two polish passer by's on the other, and it was still hard work, but it is doable, just have a big gulp of mtfu

Patience my man. Never had one I can't unstick yet. Rubber gloves normally enough. Where are you?
Can you squirt any ptfe in the joint or even wd40 for this occasion?

Even though it is a second hand pole - Email me - there are other more drastic ways. However it is very strange that the above methods did not work.

Hot water on the external section only as any heat will expand both and will remain stuck.

You could try running the hose of cold water on the stuck section to shrink it, and then a kettle of hot water on the external section to expand it, and then try turning.

Hope this helps
