Just another massively over-sign-written van.

Could be doing anything, like loft conversion, tarmac etc.

No just Katy and me, my Dad's bald patch would have created too much glare, so I just cropped and stitches a few photo's together.

I think it looks good, but agree that the phone number could be bigger. If 'friendly reliable service' were put on to the panel above then the phone number could be increased to fill that lower panel. so anyone over the road five or six doors away can make a note and call you and save your legs.

exactly the number needs to be easily seen from a distance.

It's different love the colours eye catching image.
If criticising  The orange writing seems to blend to much and is hard to read ( could be just because I'm viewing on a mobile. The extra orange squares are they really needed (they look nice, just can't see the point of them)

What did the van cost I see its new

12k + the vat if memory serves. It was discounted due to being unregistered old stock.

I like it,it's really good, the only thing I'm not sure of (and it's quite a big one) What is the name of the company? Is it The Window Cleaners or is it Sherwood  Cleaning Services?

Company name is Sherwood Cleaning Services, but we mainly do window cleaning. Our last motor a ford ranger had the company name plastered all over it in big letters with window cleaning in small letters. This time we thought we would make a point of saying what we do rather than who we are.

I've enjoyed all the fed back, I take the point about the telephone number maybe I'll make it bigger on my next van.  Weirdly the orange goes invisible in the dark, but then that's not really an issue for me.  It has already started to pay for itself as I picked up 3 gutter jobs as a direct result from the signs.

There have been some genuinely funny comments although I'm not sure if they were all meant to be funny, but they still made me smile.

As Smudger says, it's eye catching, and that's what the idea is of having a sign written van - to grab someone's attention and then, once you've achieved that, get your message across. If you make the telephone number stand out, then that is all that someone will see in the split second you have to make a statement and you loose the impact.

Simon, I like it, well done.

It is easy to fill the van up with graphics and it gets too busy. Under normal circumstances I would also say that this is the case, but the window cleaner images stiched together on what appears to be the one window confuses the brain and so needs to focus on that large image to work out whats happening. The 'confusion' is triggered with the slightly different image in the middle (Kate). Attention grabbed, job done.

This was my first reaction, and judging by some of the first posters comments, I'm not the only one.

I remember years ago Citroen having to change the colour of the silver metallic that their model range was painted in. As street light bulbs changed to an 'orange' glow it made their original colour silver look gastly.

I again personally don't see your name as being the most important part of the signage. People need a window cleaner to clean their windows/conservatory etc. The fact that it's Sherwoods is of secondary importance. If the name Sherwoods is synonumous with a qualityclean in his area then thats just cemented another link a person has.

I am having my 4x4 sign written end of march all that is going on it is window cleaner + phone number and business name in large white letters on sides and on the spare wheel cover after looking at some others vans I only hope mine will look smart enough now. But i suppose that simpler could look ok aswell.

Interesting - please elaborate as to why you see this as a no no.  I have the greatest respect for you business acumen so ask this is all due respect. Several cleaners have used before and after photo's on leaflets and signwriting to highlight the benefits of the service they offer. In a way its comparative advertising.

BTW, I'm still trying to understand (in other words - the jury is still out) a recent comment you made about all advertising, no matter what it is (negative or positive), is good advertising. Surely that would also apply in this case.

It's been the most successful sign writing I've done, so far it has averaged out at a job per day, this is customers who are already mine asking for gutter and upvc cleans.

As for dirty pictures, well it's not porn and I guess I should clean my van more often but because I don't the dirty pictures fit in well.

The point Dazmond is one oneofthose indispensable tools that only comes of the van every couple of months for a big commercial on the insides, maybe some moss has started to collect.
