The best portable HWE Unit
« on: February 15, 2006, 04:26:10 pm »
Is a truckmount. (I Know) However, I currently own a steampro 2000 powermax (the middle spec) I think, any way, Its has served me very well and I will keep it for backup. If I was to buy another portable what are the best options, I quite like the previews the Ninja gets, or is it that there is a highly paid army of Ashby salesman out there. For all those of you who love and respect their portable tell me why and I will add the sums and I might even put my hands in my pockets (careful)

Whats inportant to me;

1. Weight
2. Performance
3. Looks
4. Price
5. Service

Not neccessary in that order.
Thanks
Mark

I rate the Alltec Advantage tried and tested very reliable ,unlike some of the newer shiny models on the block, also excellent service when required

Mark,
I had a combo van setup with a extracta excell inside and 100 ft of hose and used it straight from the van and it was excellent and almost regret getting rid of it , it was so easy to use, and the excell do seem to have a great deal of power even with 100+ of hose, you also get quite generous water tank on it compared to some portys
cheers

Hi Mark,

If it is truckmount performance you are looking for you might want to look at the Scorpion, triple vacs, light weight, and plenty of psi. You can run 200ft of hose and leave it in your van. I was down at Solutions recently and had a look at this machine running, the airflow was awesome for a portable machine, sounded just like a truckmount as it whistled through the hand tool. I run a Boxxer 421 and would definately use the scorpion if I needed a back up machine.

Is your van the same size as a suzuki super carry?

no its bigger than a super carry, i test drive all in this class and the dihatsu is by far the best the others seem very dated compared to the dihatsu

these vans are ideal for the person who dos domestics and wants to go up a step in carpet cleaning but dosnt want the costs involed with truckmounts  for 5 years i pulled a machine out the van ,filled it up with water, emptyed it ,packed it away etc  back breaking work, my set up competly changes your working life ,i am working within mins of turning up at a job  i recon it saves me 30 mins on any job just for setting up and packing away !! and with my ninja top spec machine saves even more time  i can clean as quick and as good as a truck mount on any domestic job and i can get to some jobs were   a truckmount van wouldnt get and they hav to get a porty out
this is without a doubt the ultimite porty package it dont get any better than this !! the ninja machine is the most complete porty  carpet cleaning machine u can buy in this country heat is amazing even at 100ft  and u can now add a third vac if u want ( but u can do this allready if u carry two machines,in van which i do)

Gary, you obviously like your Ninja,

But as you know heat can be added to any portable machine with the simple addition of an external fast heating unit. Preferably positioned nearer to the work site to get maximum benefit on a long run of hose.

Mark,   There are other portable machines on the market and if you are going to spend your hard earned money you need to look at a variety of makes to see which one suits you best. Look at the after sales service, some are better than others. Get down to carpex in March, this would be an ideal time to test and look at what is on offer. For just a few grand extra you could even buy a new truckmount. ;)

yes but as i said the" most complete porty" to add on heat box u hav to plug it inline to your hose and then plug it in to a socket this means more cables in way ,hassle to plug it inline to hose, restrict hose movement etc etc

Try before you buy.
Dont believe the sales hype.
Buy a package and get discount.
Look for options.
Remember the more power the more leads and anymore than two is a PITA.

Ive owned four different portables and the best is the Ninja with 400psi pump and HD vacs.

next was the Alltec advantage.  It would have been first only the pump is underpowered and NO options.
