Am I wrong in thinking cleaning the panels are very similar to cleaning windows?

Iv cleaned quite a few residential am at risk at being electrocuted.

Why would you be at risk of being electrocuted. These things are sealed so they dont electrocute people when it rains.

Most electric lights aren't sealed.

IMO theres a world of difference between the two items. Both have to be sealed to prevent electrocution, however, one is going to be less dangerous due to the lower levels of current involved. Also, lights are quite often actually under cover and dont require cleaning to operate or to operate effectively. If I were to clean a light fitting Id like to think it would be turned off, at the mains and not just in an operative sense as they havent been manufactured with that in mind. However, solar panels will have been, simply if only because if they short circuit due to water seepage you've blown a piece of kit worth a sizeable wedge and yourself probably, blow a light and you've popped a bulb worth 60p and probably nothing more.

I'm asking the question has I don't know obviously the answer yes or no is all I need Matt does it make difference if its hot or cold water!

We have never been but I want to make sure has this is something we are starting to get involved in a lot more.

Solar panels are manufactured sealed. Theres no reason why they would give you a shock, unless theyre manufactured faulty. Hot or cold, shouldnt make a difference, they sit out in desert temps of 65 + °C in desert environments.

Electrocution can occur from solar panel cleaning. You won't find out until its too late without taking precautions. One installer we do cleaning for INSISTS that we do not clean panels without one of their guys being there to turn the array off and eliminate the chance of electrocution.

Because they insist and they are the experts, I take their advice. I deal with water, they deal with electricity. Their knowledge can save my life. I am advised to listen.

good links blast away,

so all those were cleaned with 'fresh water' and detergents and NOT with pure water.

i thought pressure washing would have been too rough on a solar panel but perhaps this is the
way to do them 'solar' farms in under 3 hrs
