Hi Guys
Jumping over from the hard floor cleaning section, Smithie is right about the use of G101 never use on paintwork as its a high alkaline based cleaner and can cause detrimental damage to many surfaces including PVC window frames as it can degrade the original shinny surface, i made those mistakes many years ago when i was cleaning windows and was recommended to use G101 or TFR which i discovered as well was causing detrimental damage to many surfaces as most TFRs are also high alkaline based cleaners which will just dull down and corrode many types of surfaces over continuos use. only passing on my own experiences and having heard many other cleaners complaining about the damage that products like G101 and high alkaline based TFRs cause to surfaces.
Best example i can give is to take a nice new white transit van drives out of the showroom shinny and bright, then its taken into the car wash once a week to be cleaned and pressure washed with TFR (highly alkaline) give it 2 to 3 years depending on how often its washed and the original shinny bright finish eventually turns into a dull off white colour, the alloy wheels start to degrade, black shinny plastic bumpers start to degrade and turn to a grey dull colour, then after another year or two the dull white paint starts to turn a yellowish colour as it becomes chemically burnt from continuos use of high alkaline based vehicle cleaners, again guys im just sharing my own experiences from over 30 years in the cleaning industry, the same problems arise in the hard floor cleaning industry, many contractors use high alkaline based floor cleaners to clean vinyl type and anti-slip flooring and again from continuos use, the floors start to turn a yellowish colour from the chemical burning caused by the continuos use of high alkaline based floor cleaners. just note guys you dont see this damage when your using high alkaline based cleaning products the detrimental damage is caused by the continuos use of these harsh cleaning chemicals. I havent used in years any high alkaline based cleaning products and would never recommend them as over time they are just to damaging to surfaces.
Hope that this info will be of benefit to some of you guys, the guy who shared this info in the states with me many years ago was a chemist with one of the larger chemical manufactures in the world and shared some interesting facts with me, which have been of great benefit to me.
Kind regards
Tadgh
