Dont waste your money Shaun, better off investing in a steamer with constant fill option, all the vac steamers i have seen are all plastic and Italian... so its guaranteed to go wrong just like their cars!
I have an Ospray Robby 3000.. its not a bad machine

Would a steamer with a vac be any good for that? i have heard of people using terry towel with low pressure steam and a plasterers trowel type tool on the oppersite side of the curtain... apparently it works well

I got one for chewing gum removal and it was great for that ( with a little adjusting ) I tried it for curtain cleaning bot found it was a lot easier to vacuum with a water filtration vacuum then " mist " spray and quickly remove with microfiber which was placed over plastic swivel mop head .....the pole could be added as required.
Unfortunately I gave the steamer away, but it only cost about £200 and worked reasonably well.

We bought one of these via ebay and it's great.

We also have a smaller Karcher without the vac and this is also great. The difference between the two certainly isn't as wide a gap as the new prices would suggest.

Go for one without a vac, unless absolutely essential.
Cleanstore (Karcher link) are a good supplier too, so worth a look on their site.

Hi Shaun,
We have a Vapourtek 3000ID Which is a dry steam/vac and seems to do pretty good, it also has the constant feed water tank.

The Polti is ideal for curtains as it has a water filtration vacuum, constant water for steaming and even has an iron so great for the wife.
