Anyone Link 2x 100m Microbore Hoses Together?
« on: January 31, 2013, 11:20:51 am »
Just wondering if anyone does the above and have to work 200m away from their van. If so, does it affect the water pressure, I imagine it does. I have shurflo pumps and varistream controllers. The varistreams are only on halfway at the mo.

Any advice is appreciated.  :)

when we have done schools in the past we had to link hosereels together but they were normal garden hose in the days before microbore etc i dont recall any problems to be honest maybe a little drop due to connections

one way to solve the pressure problem is to have a larger dia hose for the first 100m then reduce it down to a smaller dia hose for the next 100m

like:- 8mm hose down to 6mm hose.

this is what we do in house plumbing for water and gas to keep pressures to the max!

brilliant suggestion. Can see that would work. Excellent!

works in houses, could use 12mm hose down to 8mm hose down to 6mm hose and might get 300m's!
might need a upgrade in pump though, higher flow rate etc.

With my brides system no the pressure is poor with 100 m but with my pure freedom easily, I guess also cause you have picked loads up it may make sence to get a baffled tank maybe a couple of thousand litres with a pump and fill with purified water before you start.
Would portable for further than a couple of 100 m if needed.

it should easily pump 200 metres but even if it didnt you could pump first 100 metres to a trolley system then pump the other 100metres using the trolly pump but like i said dont think this will be required

you could you use 1/2 inch hose, hozelock  say 40 mts on two reels and just join them up using the hozelock connections, that way when not required take them out of the van and resort back to your normal length  reel

We clean schools and colleges all over the place and often connect 300-400 metres of microbore - with NO pressure problems whatsoever with our 100PSI pumps.

We use WFP up to 20 metres without a loss in flow rate.

That is quite incredible, Rhinoman, when you consider that due to internal friction you can't even blow through 25 meters of microbore.

What connections do you guys use to connect up?  I've a rectus 21 fitting on the end of one reel, so how would that connect to the next reel which has a hoselock type elbow?
