Best Buy of 2012?
« on: January 25, 2013, 01:03:35 pm »
Saw this thread on another site and thought it was a good one......

What was your best buy of last year?

Why did it help? Did it make you more comfortable, save time, save water, get more work etc

Be interesting to hear all your stories....

Last year - upgrading to an 4040 R/O from a 450 GPD. Now we have enough water.

Over the last 8 years of doing WFP we have had a number of these best decisions; some we agonised over and some we struggled to justify the expense of. But once made became part off the learning curve.

Changing from Unger Teleplus poles to carbon fiber telescopic poles was a major step forward. They were more expensive in those days and we needed to justify the cost.

Purchasing my first Aqua-dapter 2 1/2 years ago was another.

Not all decisions were good ones in hindsight. I bought an SLX 40 to target some higher work, but for one reason and another (mainly health) never focused on that side.
It gets used on a couple of jobs over the year we now have, but hasn't paid for its cost TBH. But if you don't speculate, you will never push forward.

The flipfast.  Incredible bit of kit; probably underrated on this forum, but possibly because it does exactly what it's meant to do and is very robust.

That's only a couple of pints a day.

Ruddy lightweight.

My Gardiners Xtreme poles, my Gardiners swivel resi-neck - brilliant bit of kit and cheap too. Gardiners Xtreme mixed medium bristle brush. Gardiners low pressure fan jets (so cheap too). Quite like my Gardiners Baseball cap too. I think there's a theme here  :)

Anyway, they all contribute to making my day easier and more pleasant.

Boring but true. CLX 27 from xtel.

The very best thing though I got for nothing. A Merlin from Cliff Perkins. Practically water on demand now from a 200 GPD sloooooow thing. It needs new membranes, but I run it through pre filter set then post RO double DI.

Some good stuff there.... Hot water and flow control, how much of a positive effect does this have on your working day?

And how many think they are both no advantage?

i would imagine hot water can be a advantage..but not this time
of year good for keeping your hands warm doesnt clear the rds and paths that stop you working safely..i would of thought
first cleans would be quicker and summertime when all sorts are
baked on the glass and frame would move easier.

flow control  has got to be an advantage even a simple
return which cuts my water usage down by two thirds makes my day easier

A collapsible toilet for the back of the van so that the transit can live up to its name.
Do quantum mechanics fix old transits?

And let us not forget, voyeurism is an occupational hazard that we simply must endure.
