Ideas for new marketing employee.
« on: January 23, 2013, 05:17:21 pm »
I am currently in the process of looking for a part time employee to market my business to potential commercial customers instead of outsourcing it. Does anyone do anything similar and can you give me some inspiration, i have loads of ideas, but don't mind pinching some of your ideas  ;D

Pay commission only, make it worth their while. It's not the how it's the why.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

I'm thinking of paying an hourly rate plus 10% commission on any work carried out as a direct result of their marketing as an incentive.

Sorry Andy, i think you have got the wrong end of the stick. I'm talking about marketing to commercial customers not dropping flyers to domestic customers and i think their is something wrong with your keyboard.  :P

A good place for cheap(ish) business help is a Business School at your local University (or college).  Final Year students often want to carry out a project/placement in a business and Marketing will be one of the areas that they will be looking for.  Sometimes all that is required is a contribution towards travel expenses and lunch allocation (if you actually have office premises for them to work from) otherwise they will just base themselves at the Uni with regular meetings organised with yourself.   You may be asked to submit a short synopsis on the project that you would like a student to work on which is then circulated to the course students.  If you have any takers, they usually submit their ideas and you interview the ones that interest you.
