any1clean w/out a heater on hwe porty
« on: January 16, 2013, 10:47:59 pm »
reason i ask is wanting a airflex storm - and thought ill  just have to not fill tank and just do a bucket at a time - when ive justified and raised bit more cash then ill add the magma inline heater.

any thoughts ?

could i still get decent results this way?

I've got a Storm and don't use in-line heater.  I use hot (out of tap) in pre-spray and use warm water again from tap in HWE machine works fine for me.  I use M-Power, S.P.M mainly which do not require hot water to rinse.

awesome thanks mate - im also thinking (to cut initial outlay) of sticking with the 25ft hoses instead of getting an extra 50ft of hoses (which makes sense , but its initial cost) and instead grimacing by taking machine upstairs -

is this viable/achievable?

For hot water you could use 25 litre containers for those occasions when hot water is not available, also saves time on bucket carrying and you can use the drop in hose. I use a wide range of chemicals not just the cold rinse ones and tap hot work for me. Have a kettle on your van if you use powders or for hot prespray (follow suppliers directions regarding temp)

I appreciate that the cost of hose can be seen as expensive but to get the best out of the Storm/Turbo/Jag/Scorpion 2" hose is a great benefit. You really need a minimum of 50' and it will works great with 1.5" but 2" is better. Limiting yourself to just 25' will soon become a real pain. The machine will have to go indoors and will have to go upstairs. I've done this on a few occasions and it's not that bad as it has big wheels, but I would not want to do it in a small property with winding stairs. Walls and machines are expensive!

Storms not exactly a bargain at 2900 without any heat !

Good heat will speed up cleaning and make life easier in most situations  .

You might be better off with an Enforcer with built in steammate for 2600 and get some hose   :)

or an Alltec Evolution with two heaters + hose /wand for 3100

You'll regret not having the extra hose the very first time you hump that thing up a set of stairs and even more so when you scuff paint etc. If money is that tight you also need to think about what budget you have for advertising as now is not a great time to start a cc business.

You are joking, surely ???

To save just £30 you are going to carry a machine capable of cleaning 150 feet away up the stairs and wheel it with cables plugged full of water  from room to room, when with 50ft your be able to easily just leave it outside your customers house and get on with the job. I have the Airflex Turbo the whole point of using a machine like this is convenience that it can be left outside the customers home, once you put water in it you wont be able to move it at all anyway.
You need the machine, a minimum 50ft of hose, a wand, stair tool and sprayer plus a carpet rake to agitate.

Buy the hose, FFS - it's not only scuffing paint, it's the leaks, drips, vapour. You need to leave the m/c outside the front door.

If you can't afford the real thing yet, search for 1.5" pond hose or pool hose on Ebay. The blue swimming pool hose looks lightweight and it will squash if you stand on it, but it does not split like carpet cleaning hose and mine has lasted longer at a fraction of the price, i've not tried the heavy duty black pond hose so i don't know if it's too ridgid.

When i bought my first Scorpion set up six years ago, I bought 200ft of 2" hose four x 50ft lengths inc solution hoses! To be honest I always carry two bags in my van each with 50ft of solution/ vac hose in each I only used more than fifty foot hose lengths on four occasions last year and thats with the machine at the customers door so a bit of an over kill as far as i am concearned! so although these high power machines will suck quite efectively at 150ft you hardly ever go to these lengths! but as i said i always carry 100ft just in case

Your questions have really been answered but I'll add my personal experiences over many years.
You can work without a heater ...........but will have to work harder and use more product and take considerably longer to do the job.
Most of my c/c life I've used the customers hot water and had very few problems while doing so, however......
When using an inline heater located close to the wand the end result may have only been marginally better, but.......the time taken was hugely reduced and the effort was considerably less and it required less product.

So, in IMO it would be madness to haul a machine around if you could leave it outside the door and unrealistic to expect to achieve the same profitability from cold water although there are excellent products available.

Why make life more difficult and less profitable when you could make it better and more profitable by spending a few hundred pounds.

Get more hose. It will be a very costly exercise if you do not, for all of the above reasons.

I have not used hot water for several years.
I use MPower or SPM. They rinse easily with cold.
I never take the machine inside and have 60 ft of hose normally with another 25 ft in reserve. I have not used that for over 12 months- I still carry it, the first time I have not got it will be the time I need it.
The myth that hot water dries quicker is one of the classics. The carpet is at room temp in less than a minute.

Kin ear,
I think you're missing a trick cleaning cold. You may think cold does the job because you've become accustomed to the results achieve, but use heat and you'll soon see the difference.

THANKS ALL - GREAT ADVISE AND THINK ON REFLECTION ILL BE PATIENT AND SAVE FOR THE EXTRA HOSE AND HEATER.

ITS JUST THAT I WANTED TO GET THE SEBO FOR AGITATION AND BLOWER THAT DOES WHOLE FLOOR TO SPEED DRYING TIMES.

ITS WORKING OUT AROUND 4.4K STORM WITH THE EXTRA 50FT HOSE FOR SOLUTION&VAC(2INCH) AND THE MAGMA -

BUT REALISE THE PAY BACK IN TIME, CONVENIENCE AND NOT DAMAGING STUFF - SO THX ALL.

IF M/C OUTSIDE WOULD I REALLY NEED THE SILENCER HOSE ??   :)
