Hi new here
« on: January 12, 2013, 10:14:05 am »
Hi my names Brian and I have recently joined this forum, I was in the military (Royal Engineers) for 7 years then I was cleaning windows for 6 months trad in my brother in laws small business before becoming a a maintenance electrician and the a lift maintenance engineer. In September I was informed there was no longer enough work for me so now I am a house husband. After the way I was treated in my last job I have no intentions going back to being an employee and plan within the next year conducting some market research in and around my area and hopefully finding some windows in need of a good cleaner. I Have savings and will be investing in a WFP system eventually but am spending a lot of time on here researching before I buy. I live in Carrickfergus N Ireland and my local window cleaners are very unreliable and I see their unreliability ad my gap in the market they only seem to call when they need a few quid for a carryout then you could go weeks without seeing them. I support Man United and detest Liverpool FC but understand they are just a mid-table club and nothing to get upset about.

Thanks for your time reading this and I hope to get to know you all in the future

Brian

Welcome to the forum, Brian, and there's quite a few ex soldiers here.  Stu was in some daft Jock regiment that wears tea cosies on their heads, Hector was a bleep (back in the days when soldiers fought in squares), Cosy and myself were trogs.

I also spent some time with 32 Engr Regt in Hohne and quite liked the hard working, heavy drinking ethos of the Sappers.

And are you a local in Carrick or have you settled there after meeting a lass when you were posted to Antrim?  I was in Aldergrove for a few years too, so just down the road from you (if you were at Antrim).

Anyway, we're a fairly friendly lot, helpful too, so if you've any questions, just ask.

P.S.  Make sure you go down the D.I.Y WFP route, it's cheaper, and it's not complicated to set up a good system (with all the same components of an 'off the shelf system'), at a fraction of the price.

Tosh

Thank you all for your kind words.

Tosh I am a Carrick local though I did spend some time with 25 in Antrim and a few years in Paderborn with 35 Engr. Thanks for the advice I will look into the DIY WFP system.

Getting a dig in before tomorrow lol while we have Howard Webb playing up front yous have no chance.

Liverpool have confirmed they will lodge a appeal to the F.A against the red card they will receive against Manchester United on Sunday.

No Tosh didnt meet him that I remember I got out in 2007 lost all interest in the army after a few incidents which just put into perspective how heartless they can be.

My grandfather died and I was ready to deploy to Oman on exercise I was given leave of app 36 hours were I was supposed to get from Germany attend the funereal and back to deploy. I ended up not getting there.

We lost a sapper in Iraq and his best mate and room mate was refused even though he was in the uk the time to attend his funeral infact he was deployed on the day of the funeral to Iraq as his replacement.

I also didnt fancy bring up a family while in the army as the divorce rates are shocking.

I will be outnumbered tomorrow watching the match as I will be watching it in a bar where the LFC supporters club meet.

With the help of this forum, I turned from traditional to WFP, building a DIY system in my Berlingo and I didnt really have a clue what I was doing. I now make more money with less effort as a result.

If I can help in anyway shape or form I will.
