What would you do

How would you use an office manager 8 hours per day to generate work? I would like to hear specifics, and actual strategies that have worked and are working

Is it just carpet and upholstery cleaning you do or other services? Do you have other staff?

More details are needed.

Some of the tasks our people do...

Follow up mailshots/reminders you've sent out with a gentle telesales call.

Filling short notice cancellations by email marketing.

Calling those you don't have an email for asking if they have one so you can send them offers and tips every couple of months (this works really well at generating work too as some say "Ooh I was meaning to call you")

Following up returned Questionnaires and sorting out the website testimonials that have been made.

Follow up commercial sales letter making appointments for you.

Keeping YOU organised, the right person will help you no end.

Dealing with the crap that leaves you free to work on the business not in it.  Ie techies with problems stuck in traffic or other hassles they will call in with.

Hope that helsp.

Is  it an office manager who is going to be doing a bit of marketing as well as other duties or are you planning on full blown marketing person as they are worlds apart.

In that case I would be looking for someone skilled in telephone sales but also internet savvy. Spending time looking for the right person will pay massive dividends. The difference a trained marketing person can make is massive.

Ditto, but make sure they understand that other "non marketing" tasks will be involved, Don't advertsie for an Office Manager Mick as you will not capture the right person :)

here's the situation, I have a girl working fulltime for me. We have tried calling our data base with limited results. A lot of people don't answer their phones and we don't call mobile numbers because we feel it is intrusive. We text our mobile numbers monthly and thatworks quite well, 10-15 jobs instantly every month. We are very active on face book and that does bring in some work. We change something on our website daily and that averages 12-15 jobs monthly. I just feel that there must be something we can be doing daily, a tried and tested formula that brings in a certain amount of work. I would be very interested in a telesales programme that works when applied. The girl I have is very good and she says she would like to be contributing more in sales.

Hi Mick

Are you saying you get 12-15 jobs per month from your website.  Seems low for a city the size of Dublin.

On the other hand that's a great source of work via the text.

If it was me I'd be sending them out to knock commercial doors.

I wouldn't have though you'd need an office manager for admin type work.

I think for cold telesales for residential would be a hard sell and very intrusive.

Be warned. We are currently been taken to court regarding telesales. Three people have reported us to tps. Tps are now proceeding to take us and seven other businesses, ranging in sizes to court. We have it on good authority that it will cost us at least 5k!.

One guy we called got so angry he almost had a stroke, he was fighting for breath. We think he could have been one of the three responsible.

For god sake, check the numbers you are calling out are not tps registered.
