Price goes up if they tell me they've used an RD or Vax etc. This allow for the extra time taken to rinse all that residue out of the carpet. And before someone tells me I'm ripping the customer off, I inform the customer exactly why I put the price up. They either take it or leave it.
So what do you do if they have used an RD and haven't told you, charge them extra every time you find a supposed residue?
You could take it even further and start slapping extra charges on for traffic lanes or dirty patches, or you could just do your job and clean the bloody thing.
Sorry, I don't get involved (anymore) in pricing debates. I have my charges, you have yours. Not interested in what others decide as their business charges any more than I'm interested in what others think of my charges. The customer will decide if the charge is acceptable.
Re: RD residues. Proberbly like many before me, I've had customers tell me that having used a RD they find they're having to "clean" their carpet more and more often. There's only one reason for that, and it's nothing to do with "supposed residue". Re: my "Bloody Job". I decide what my job is and if I want the job at all. Why, when I can fill my time cleaning clean carpets, should I sell my time on the cheap to someone who's made my "Bloody Job" more difficult than it needs to be?
Time was when I'd accept anything, several years down the line I can be a bit more piccy. Anyway, you don't find too many carpets "cleaned" with a RD in a high end property. Enjoy :
