inline heater or not?
« on: December 21, 2012, 12:50:38 pm »
hi all and seasons greetings.

i am offering carpet cleaning as an add on to my valeting business and its all going well. im only doing 3-5 jobs a week on average at the moment.
this winter iv had a large increase in EOT cleans with no access to hot water so im considering an inline heater.
i have a prochem sx2100 with a 135psi pump ans twin vacs.
What heater would you suggest?. and is it
worth it for my level of use ?
at the moment i have a heavy duty 3ltr kettle on the go and fill up a spare 75ltr tank to get me started.
cheers

Lew, Hot water makes the cleaning process easier and the carpets will dry faster.  As for which one to go with well i guess this is personal choice.  All i can say is that i hear nothing but good reviews about Cleansmart so why not take a look at their inline heater.  Take a look at the link below and have a good read.  It certainly sounds like a good option.  They offer your money back if you dont think its the best inline heater, controllable heat up to 110 degrees.

Or here are some alternatives......

thanks Richie. i always use hot water where possible but i feel its time to get a heater.
also toying with upgrading machines to a pfx1085 next year as the carpet side is picking up for me now but £500 is a better option for me now then £2k+

Have to disagree.  Regardless of which chem you use.....hot water will clean better and faster.

I've yet to see an inline heater that will maintain high temps with high flow, there is only such much heat a 13amp plug can provide.

If anything it will act as a boost to the already hot water you have put in your tank, put in cold and with a wand you won't maintain any reasonable heat.

Given the choice I would invest in a better aggatation machine rather that a heater, this would provide a better & easier clean

Gotta say I have to agree with Mike. Agitation overheat anyday. Its rare that you cant get tap hot water though. You will find with a lot of EOT's you just need to turn the boiler on as most people turn them off when the property is empty :D

all product are cold rinsing you don't have to buy product that are sold as cold rinsing.

going back to basics.  The prespray detaches the dirt from the fibre & holds it in suspension so it can rinsed out. if your prespray does its job then a cold rinse will remove the suspended soil.....

.....but!! if it does not then you won't get all the dirt out. The problem is you cannot know if your prespray has worked 100%

this is one of the reasons a hot water rinse is preferable, hot water also is effective at detaching dirt from fibres.... so you are having 2 bites of the cherry at removing the dirt....  if the prespsray does not completely work the hot water will finish the job.

its impossible to know if your prespray has worked completely hence the need for hot water.

but if you don't have the option of hot water this fact is easily overlooked ;) ;)

hi Mike, thank you for your input.

i currently only use a sebo duo for agitation so maybe i should look at something better.

i did 2 eot's today, 1 i was able to fire up the boiler and the 2nd i used their elec shower to get nice hot water so i was ok.

i usually use PB or ultrapac with extraction pro or fibre and fab rinse for 99% of my work.

the only time im not 100% happy with my workmanship has been on a couple of high wool mix carpets earlier in the year , which while i got some seriously mucky waste water out, they still looked a little drab but maybe that was me expecting unrealistic results- these were both hot rinse so maybe under agitation
