Never done Bloor homes but we got a contract for Charles Church some years ago to do 50 odd executive home on an estate some were 5/6 bed 3 storey houses upto £800k!

Used to phone us the day before requesting cleans, we'd be cleaning a house and have 20 workmen still in, they changed the goal posts after we'd start a house, like telling us we needed to scrape paint spots/over paint of door hinges on one house that had over 120 door hinges!!!!

To top it off we didnt get paid for anything for 3 months so jacked them off, we finally got paid 3 months AFTER we left contract!

TBH cleaning will probably always be the last people to get paid, and then you have to beg to get whats owed. For some reason it was just the way they work we have done a few for various big companies and its always been the same, so good luck.

Did a Bloor contract, had to wait 3 months, excuse after excuse.

It came eventually, and they then asked us all to go on a cscs course and get our cards, at our expense, that was enough for me on top of the late payments, so pulled it.

Sometimes jobs are worth a bit of aggro, sometimes they're not, in my experience, builders leans just aren't.

sometimes it takes ages to get into there payment system, with one company I waited near on nine months.
they now pay on time everytime 30 days from end of month.

Dave have you gone through to the accounts deptment to chase it or just the person that got you to do the work ?

dont you guys write into the contract that payment is made with-in 30 days or late charges will be added etc.
i have done that with a company and they always pay with-in 20 days.

i had one company that took it over 30 days, issued them with a late payment invoice pay with-in 14 days other wise  late payment will be added.

14 days later never paid. sent final invoice with the late fee on and warning or small claims court if not paid within 7 days.
2 days later all paid up!

ok but did you speak to accounts  ? just asking because maybe you havent I dont know. I made the mistake of assuming that headoffice would sort my bill out (they didnt) only when I spoke to acccounts 2 months later all was sorted (2 months is bad I know but now sorted now im in the payment system (that seems the hard bit) also they tended to argue of the company name as many are intangeled with other companies.  (rolly eyes) a PITA with benifits.

Bob some of this work I do pays upto double what I earn on residential thats the only reason why

They asked you do get your Cscs  card and pay your self?
Obviously their your staff and your responsibility to pay for their traing plus it cost about £20 not exclay breaking the bank

Cscs is a joke one the sites I work in they asked use not to put the number down sopeople dont steal it.

Bob some of this work I do pays upto double what I earn on residential thats the only reason why

'cos when you take them on you don't know they are dreadful payers, plus you could pick up the majority of the estate as new people move in.

I only that last part was true Dave i would be a happy man, sadly not the case though (at least not in my experience its not)

If you dont make a fuss you sit at the bottom of the pile.

What might seem like over over the top is the best way to get paid early.

I always said I wanted 14 day payments regardless of the 30 day terms and they always paid.

If they dont pay on time start small claims as its not worth letting them use you as free credit overdraft. They will always pay when the court letter arrives. No more work from them but there are plenty more building companies out there just like plenty more windies.

They are used to the grief and holding back payments. Some think its funny but not so funny when you turn up at the head office and refuse to leave until a cheque is in your hand.

Some of them are so thick skinned they would still offer you work..... but you know that will screw you later.

Some out there offer 90 day payment terms and look at you with a smile as if they are doing you a favour.
