hi lee I use the red hose from a washing machine, screws straight onto the heater,I then cut the other end of and jubileed it onto a free spinning steel connector (which then screws onto hose reel) bought from a pneumatics company at the cost of £44, they told me not to use brass for hot as not upto it, I can now run at insanely hot temperatures if I wish

Think you was done there! In plumbing in the house the fittings used inside the boilers are brass! Being in the plumbing trade myself you know these things.

Most brass fittings have a temperature range of -53°c to 121°c.

It spins at the push fit connector end, im not sure about the longevity of this yet as I have only been using it for 4 weeks, but it spins beautifully, and does leak a drop.

if you allow it to spin at the push fit titting then you will get leaks, in the fitting there are metal bits that grip onto the plastic, each turn they will be cutting a nice grove around the plastic. also you will wear the rubber washer out too!

Nice setup Alex, I can vaguely remember you showing it to me, but things must have changed a little. What temp/pressure is the plastic pipe rated at?

I've got the braided hose coming directly from the heater as it's usually the hottest there, and provides a great leak free connection on the hotwash. From that it's just a john guest push fit barb to reinforced hose with a jubilee clip on the hose reel.

Its rated at 12 Bar @ 20 deg and then decreases to 4 Bar @ 82 deg 3 Bar @ 98 deg

4 Bar is about 60psi. That's why I used the copped pipe coming straight out of the boiler. I once blew a hole in the Barrier Pipe.

I couldn't use jubilee fastenings any more, because I use one heater for two reels, when there are two of us working and one stops his flow, the heat in the other reel increases significantly so much so that it blew regularly.

We've been using this for 4 weeks now and not has a single blow. The only problem which I'm sorting out as well speak, is how the hose joins the reel. This is my only weak point especially if I have reeled out 80m of hose.

Yea that's a major problem area. You know the sealant I used for the mushroom vent on my old van? That's water, heat and cold proof and sets even when wet. I've thought about coating the barb in that, put the hose over it and then use a jubilee clip. Just a temporary measure, I'm looking at some proper fittings from various companies.

Yeah you need some high pressure fittings ideally. When I get a new van Ill fit it out properly, I hate fiddling of an evening or when at work

Apologies, I thought you mean hose reel to microbore connector. That's where the real problem is. Yea they are okay, but have found only the Hoselok pro metal connectors to be any good.

its ok, yer they have been a problem at times, on my hose reel i have a jubilee clip and 2 'o' rings holding mine on.

I use 1 heater for 2 reels. I use the hoselock 4 port thing like Roy harding, the rad hose with brass hoselocks hens on with jubilee clips to the reels I haven't had any problem with this setup, no hoses popping off. My only  problem which isn't heat related, is the elbows coming from the reels, if they are pulled slightly at the wrong direction they leak.

I like the look of you connector on your reel, can you update us as to the longivity of it?
