Fan jets
« on: December 11, 2012, 08:56:05 pm »
I got some off alex the  other day the new red 1s.
I think they are great and i loved my 1st day on them.
On my 2nd day i managed to break 1 so sadly they are not unbreakable.
When will somebody make some out of brass that are good.
Fed up with plastic weak 1s.

Rant over :-)

Yeah, you said before that you keep breaking them. Where do they break? They don't come into contact with anything to break on.

Hi Cliff

You are the first to have broken these!

During our testing these have proved to be extremely tough.

Could you let me know exactly how they were damaged?

I keep catching the tube on the back of the brush on door handles as im going down the window.
With the brass 1s if i fo it it would just pull the tube of the end.but when i do it with the fan jets it snaps the back off the fan jet and it ends up inside the tube.

Always seems to do it when im in a rush.

Great jets i just think brass would be better like the normal pencil jets as ive never ever broken 1 off them.

Still its nearly xmas

Thanks for the info. This must have been hit/caught with quite some force.

For fanjets to work well they need to protrude slightly from the surface of the stock they are mounted in. For this reason alone we would not make them of brass or metal as the risk of scratching glass would be there.

If you need a fanjet that can withstand your work methods then maybe the older Lurmark ones would be more suitable - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/fan-jets-standard-40-degree-x2.html - these do need a 12mm hole drilling though and do not fit our Sill brushes.

For being the record holder I will let you have some replacements on me :)

Drop me an email with your contact details.

Thanks alex for the link but i only use fanjets in my sill brushes

I think you have my details on record if you wanted to forward on a replacement but i was not after a freebie.

Now you explained about the head sticking out the head stock i can see that brass might scratch the glass.

Are there any fan jets that dont protrude any1 ?

Thanks for the offer alex oh and merry xmas  ;)

Remove the jet hose from the rear barb (much easier if you pour some boiling water over them first).  Then gently tap them out with a hammer.

To fit the new ones - tap them in with a hammer from the bristle side and re-fit the jet hose.

I too have managed to break some, when I catch the tubing on rails in front of windows or simply by adjusting the angle or changing the brush heads over, it's like they are too rigid if you know what I mean,if the plastic stem piece was a bit more softer or rubbery I can't see them breaking so easily, the kind lady at Gardiners posted out me a pair free of charge as the ones I ordered with my pole were too big,I really liked the new ones and shortly afterwards one broke  so I bought another four just incase it happened again,I put my last one in yesterday but I'm afraid to use the brush now as it might happen again, maybe it's me and I'm too heavy handed, they seem to snap flush with the brush stock,I am very pleased with the spray they produce but for now I'm gone back to the blue Lumark fans on my other brushes, there not as good but at least I know they won't break.
Maybe I need to stop eating spinage ;D

Ionic do brass ones.
I don't like them but my commercial head (from Ionic) has the option to swap between pencil and fan jets.

Yes the commercial head on my Ionics pole has it on the gooseneck and sprays out over the brush head, fine for cleaning cladding but a bit messy on windows,I rather the spray coming out within the brush head.
