Got a similar one coming up, 19m spider needed.

Love those jobs, a bit different from the norm, a bit challenging.

Im no H&S bod , but what are the rules for hard hats on access machines , its just that i wear one all the time on a certain job , its an ongoing build but the part i do is no longer classed as site , do i need to wear one or not ?

As I understand, there is no ruling.

If your hard hat fell off as you looked over the edge, could cause problems.

To be fair, a hard hat won't protect you against the forces these things produce.

See your point , but lets just say you fell for some freaky reason from the basket , hit the end of your lanyard and swang back into the arm of the machine using the back of your head as a brake , would a hard hat be a possible life saver , and yet this is a grey area ?

You can't fall out if the basket, your harness is too short for that reason.
