Go on Wynne ............... back peddle ya bugger  ;D ;D

@ Shaun yep he certainly did..... I aint allowed in  ;D ;D

So trying not to be cynical about the whole idea of associations.... The ideal is if you reach some criteria a potential customer will go with you over someone else. The customer who is understandably ignorant can be reassured when making a decision on who to go with.

From the carpet cleaners perspective he wants training that can't be got outside of the organisation, leads for work, something he can stick on his van to tell people he's kosher.

The association TACCA aside, has a need for members to pay for all the admin and associated costs. Like a business they need to make money otherwise they wouldn't exist.

In my view the potential customer is the least best served, then the member and the only winner is the association. How many people in the history of the NCCA ever failed the exam and gone home empty handed?
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

tacca is going to have to have a membership cost at some point as its purpose is to eventually have an advertising campaign to make the nations housewives aware of the fact that carpet cleaning is done by trained profesionals.

however from my personal experience none of my customers have heard of tacca or ncca so telling them i am a member of tacca sounds equally as impressive as telling them i am a member of the ncca and the tacca logo looks equally as impressive on my website and van etc as the ncca one did. though the ncca membership would carry more weight with the insurance industry i would think.

i would be interested to know how many ncca members remain in the organisation for more than 2 or 3 years which is the length of time it took me to realise they seem to spend most of their time and money marketing to new carpet cleaners as opposed to educating the general public as to their existance.

finally i know there are some ncca members who benefit greatly from membership via referals etc but i suspect these guys would do well anyway as they probably operate in wealthy areas.

billy russell and happy mondays are good examples as both benefit from ncca membership but equally both operate alongside very successful cleaning businesses in good locations and i know billy uses his ncca membership as part of his marketing stratergy which i suspect  a lot of members dont do.

If TACCA intentions are to do this then I dread to think how much the membership is going to be.
To advertise to the nations housewives , in a way so that they remember them is going to cost hundreds of 1000's of ££'s via nation newspaper and TV ads, from what I have been told ONE 30 second slot on TV can be up to £10,000+ , you need a MASSIVE marketing budget to run a national ad and you have to keep running it to make it worth running it in the first place.

I don't know, but have the NCCA ever  run a national campaign ?

i am a member of the ncca,i do get refferals and have kept them as reasonably regular customers,so that helps with the annual fee, every time i use the logo on advertising ,on the van etc, letterheads bus cards etc,i print next to it
national carpet cleaners assc as the logo itself is not obvious and in my opinion needs redesigning
needless anybody whos not in the game would not have a clue what it is.
sometimes i mention the assc when im quoting,i do think it gives you something
lots of professional logos on you website and stationery does make you look like a real company
also if your new in the game ,you can ring and get technical advice so you dont make expensive mistakes
they have a new video which members can download,so your site looks pro.
if you need legal advice its there.the monthly magazine can be interesting and sometimes not so.
i would totally understand experienced carpet cleaners not bothering,
if your  new in the game give them a buzz surely it can only help
thank you and goodnight !!!!! ;D ;D
