EOT No Show
« on: December 07, 2012, 10:27:03 am »
Fought my way into town for 9.30 EOT above a shop on restricted parking. Pulls up dead on time, rings the bell nothing. Curtains drawn no sign of life. Rings the bell again, nothing. Goes to van rings guy up, answerphone.

Waited ten minutes thinking even if he gets out of his pit now it's going to be a mess. So I thought s0d it I don't need the money that bad and drove off.

I'm having a coffee now before my next job, just waiting for the call later on saying he's moving out today and won't get his deposit back if I don't rush down there.

Had that done to me from a client in North Wales about 22 clicks away, coudn't get hold of them waited 25 minutes and left. Client phoned 2 hours later did not appologise but stated job had to be done befor 5pm or would lose deposit. I told her she would have to pay an additional call out on top of the original charge she after a little poor her lecture agreed so went and completed the job.

I had to book 2 jobs tomorrow that I couldn't fit in today as I was fully booked. 2 of the 3 jobs for today cancelled after 5pm last night, the wasters.

If a job or appointment to quote has been booked in a while or I have any doubts I'm thinking of giving a courtesy call before. It won't save the next day if they say they don't need it doing but it will save a journey.  I had one customer who did this to me, then about the same time next year she called me to quote again, didn't even remember the year before!

Hi Wynne

He may of already had another firm do it and forgot to cancel you?
When i get such calls from these"type" of people i will only book them if they agree to pay a small booking fee which is deducted from the final bill.
You will be surprised how many people never mess you about when they have already paid a portion of the fee!!

Hi Russ, yes I do sometimes take a deposit especially for eot and people ringing round. In this case he rang later in the day asking where I was. I said I was outside on time ringing the bell, banging on the door and ringing his mobile. He then started muttering about being a heavy sleeper and having had a 'Late night'.

No sympathy.  ;D

Yep... this is probably a common thing, some people seem to have very little respect for skilled trades people who agree to arrive on time etc...
This is why i take a deposit...
