Gardiner Brushes - Supplied with screws?
« on: December 07, 2012, 09:43:15 am »
I ordered a couple of new Extreme SL Sill brushes last week from Gardiners (spend of about £70.00) and was suprised that they didnt come with the screws to attach them.  When I called the office they sent some out to me, but at the price of just under £2.00 which seems a little wrong really.  I woild much rather, if theyre not going to send them out as standard, they they check if you want them to include them in your order when you make it.

Didnt they used to send the screws out with new brushes?

If you buy a brush with a socket it's all assembled, if you buy a brush without a socket or carbon gooseneck, you are just buying the bare brush. It lists "bare stock", ie nothing on it. I don't think they've ever sent out screws with bare brushes. One would assume you've got the mounting hardware. It's just two screws. They list them under brush fittings. But please don't tell me you ordered two screws over the internet and then complained it cost almost £2? ;D Postage will cost the most.

Hey Tim,

I think that if you supply a brush you should proably ask if your customer needs the screws to attach it.  The screws tehy recommend you use for the ordered brush.

If I ordered the screws without ordering the brush the £2 wouldnt bother me

Okay I see where you are coming from. I thought that "bare brush" was pretty obvious, maybe Alex can implement something in the website prompting for screws.

We do try and cover every base for our clients when ordering brushes. We also try and not sell our clients something they do not need. The only reason that we started to sell brushes as a 'bare brush with no socket fitted' as an option is for clients that have previously bought our poles, goosenecks and brushes and who just want to replace the brush but have everything else. We have never sold bare brushes with screws included, only as a bare brush or as a complete unit with socket attached.

We have presumed that if a client is not ordering a brush with a socket fitted that they must already have one of our plastic sockets fitted on an old brush or that they have one of our carbon goosenecks. If a client already has a brush socket from a previous brush then they must have the two screws that were in use with this socket. Likewise if a client has a carbon gooseneck then they will also have the two screws with it.

If when buying brushes clients do want a socket fitted then it a selectable option on the brush at £2.00 fitted (brush and screws all assembled) which is a saving of £1.55 if they were bought as spares.

If clients want to buy screws separately as spare items from us then we sell them individually at 40p each (80p for a pair). We also list exactly which lengths they are so if a client wants to source them locally they can.

you know what, Ive been to B&Q to try to find a match for the screw and just really struggled.  THe girls at gardiners struggled to get me measurements for the screws, so in the end had to order them.

thanks for the answer Alex.  It isnt a massive thing, but it was an annoyance.  I do have carbon goosenecks, but i dont find your screws last very long as the heads get all chewed up.  As I mentioned in another post, I called on 2 occassions recently and your girls on the phone (who are generally fantastic) didnt have the measurements

Hi Richard

The measurements of each of the screw lengths is on the website for future reference - http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/stainless-steel-socket-gooseneck-screws.html

The girls are usually very good with what is specified or listed on the website, but with this I doubt that they get asked this very often so this may be why they were not aware.

I hope that you are all sorted now.

I have a commercial job booked in next week the windows are just slightly larger panes that the average house windows.

Was thinking of getting this brush with the 4 jets or the fan jets to speed the job up slightly... anyone use this for commercial work? how does it perform
