Bonamain & Bonapro2
« on: December 05, 2012, 05:23:46 pm »
Carrying on from a previous thread on a nightmare ceramic floor tile got a sample pack of Bonamain and Bonapro2. The pro2 worked best (just) obviously acidic as the grout lines were fizzing as the solution was agitated. Call me a cynic but what is the difference between an off the peg mortar and cement residue remover and Pro2??. Bona said the minimum order for Pro2 was 20 litres and cost approximately £10.00 a litre. Do not mind paying for chemicals if they are not just a revamped version of something else.
What makes this product different???
Used some honing powder under the Klindex Rocky bought from Kevin which definitely helped

No mate did n't have any but I guess it could be the way forward. Have not looked at the PH of Bonapro2 but I'll stick a bit a bit of litmus paper on it and see how acidic it is. Don't want to buy 20 litres of something if I can get as good a product for less in smaller quantities.

So is it a buffered acid then?

So in answer to Graeme's question, wouldnt a phosphoric acid product (20-30%) be the same deal?
Intrigued myself!

It may do but as Jamie said it is a buffered acid  so something like Aqua Mix Extreme Clean may be the equivalent.

Must admit that the bona product made the grout lines look nice on the test. But after talking to the cafe owner he said he preferred the grout lines dark which were actually dark because of dirt and grime ???. So I cleaned the floor with high alkaline and 220 grit honing powder. Owner happy and job done. Apart from the bona product being acidic and making the grout fizz nicely once I had a high alkaline with an abrasive+ the weight of the rocky the alkaline worked fine.

Don't forget the course you did Graeme!  The grout lines gcould have been made dark and even again by sealing them with Aqua Mix Enrich N Seal ::) ::) ::)
