I am not able to take cables to van and don't fancy leaving gas heater on unattended for to long , was thinking heating up before I go but was wondering how long to heat up for

propex heater is the answer

If its say -4 c I would say a few hours. Imagine 12 hrs at sub zero it is well frozen.

I had 500l rock solid with one nights frost.

i think your on a hiding to nothing - is your RO on the van as well?

far better off trying to keep the van just above zero if you can
