fao rinse on guys
« on: December 02, 2012, 04:17:54 pm »
hi , im after a bit of advice . After buying some of the new fan jets of gardiners and replacing standard jet 's in a gardiners dt brush , i removed the middle row of bristles to allow the fan to spread across the brush without hitting any bristles. i have tried fan jets before but always give up when i start lifting off because that defeats the object and im no quicker, so today i have cleaned my house without lifting brush off with my varistream set to 70 and the results werent to bad but i still got some spotting and a couple of runs,

what am i doing wrong?

thanks for the advice ;D

without looking at you actually cleaning it's difficault to say, the varistream does not need to be run at 70
around 55 is plenty - altho i have yet to try the new gardiners jets.

after whipping around the frame and the scrub of the glass the brush is returned to the top edge of the pane and slaide the brush left to right ( 2 to 3 times ) to get a 'curtain of water'  and while drawing the brush down the glass turn water off with the AD - or tap - job done

I am surprised to removed the centre bristles, normally on gardiners brush head the jet of water naturally goes
between the rows

i removed them to try and boost my confidence , i know when i clean them using pencil jets i can walk away with confidence in my work.
i first slide along the top and then up and down across the window and back again and then along the top and down , i will try going across the top a couple of times till i see the curtain effect.
thanks for the advice darren , im always looking to be better even after 14 yrs :)

Peter fogwell told me you'll be getting in to all the nooks and cranies with fans,

where pencil jets wont reach,so may get spotting on fist couple cleans.

80% of spotting is caused by inadequate rinsing. Think about it, if you'd rinsed more thoroughly the dirt would be gone.

If you are confident with pencils jets why change, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Does it make a difference rinsing on with fan jets or pencil as I would think with the brush being on the window the fan jets can't fan and are more like pencils??

if we all lived by the 'if it aint broke dont fix it' mentality we would still be being chased around by wild animals and sleeping in caves.  its daft to knock someone for trying something new

runs is this from top of glass/frames sill or from frame only ?

and I know stupid quesion but was the brush clean ?

how long have you been water fedpole for also ?

spotting is normally caused by not scrubing enough allowing water to leech to it, or not rinsing enough, tends to be 79% :) rinsing not enough or poorly (sorry could not resist Matt)

Rinsing on the glass with the new Gardener`s fan jet would make no difference as the fan only opens up at about 1 inch from the brush. You just need to slow down and rinse more.
Were your problem might come from with  pencils you can skip the top of the frame. The fans will bring the dirt down. but if you look a the water coming down you will see the dirty water of the top of the frames which will have to be rinsed away. When every we change kit there is bound to have to be a change in technique. Hope this will help you solve your problem.
